paulclaassen This was really sweet, romantic and mysterious. I loved the subtle way the story unfolded amidst a blossoming romance. I enjoyed lead character Evan (Lou Taylor Pucci)'s back story as well and made the film that much more believable. It was a refreshingly different and unique monster tale. (We never really know exactly what Louise (Nadia Hilker) is, but can only speculate she's some sort of vampire cross breed. I loved the visuals and I loved the dialogue. This is a supernatural film done very realistically, and even harnesses some very deep emotions.
Fella_shibby I saw this on a dvd recently. Wasnt keen on watching this. Firstly, it is not a horror film n fans of the horror genre will b disappointed. There is too much chatting between characters but there was something which made me complete the film in one sitting n although as a horror fan i got cheated into seeing this, i cannot dismiss this as a bad film. This film falls perfectly in the Lovecraftian horror genre. Has elements of science fiction, romance, mythos n fate. The acting by the two leads was surprisingly very good n both the characters were likeable. The only drawback is u dont get to see the monster in its full form but thats not the point of the film. Also noteworthy are some beautifully shot scenes. The ending scene was beautifully done with beautiful settings. To b honest, i dont like such films n will not watch these kinda films. One of my online pal convinced me into seeing this. Definitely it is a very good film but not my taste.
Reno Rangan This is a surprise film. A romance-drama with the backdrop of the smart mix of sci-fi and fantasy. You won't always get a B movie as good as this one. So when you find one, you should appreciate them. It never needed the higher-end graphics, because everything it required of those were in small quantity. Even though they did not compromise and gave best visuals that greatly impacted to the narration. The leading two were very impressive. The Italian locations as well equally beautiful, overall the screenplay was the real winner. The story of an American man who flees to Italy after his mother's death and followed by a small incident. There he meets an unusual young research student and convinces her to date him. While they both getting closer, a series of weird stuffs begins to threaten their relationship. Explaining those to one another and for us the what the remaining film focused. This is like 'Before Sunrise' meets some monster film. I don't think it is very original, but kind of refreshing that carefully carved film. If you see the film poster, you won't get the impression that you want to watch it immediately, but if you give it a try, surely you would be, I mean majority of you won't end in a disappointment. There's no way it should have been better, because it is already at its best in a simple way. Not a must see, but I hope you won't miss this little gem if you're reading this.7/10
shinsrevenge Evan has problems. His mother died after a long time of sickness, he lost his job and the police is looking for him because he got in a fight. So he decides to leave everything behind and start anew in Italy. There he meets a mysterious young woman. They have a nice time together until he accidentally finds out that she is like a fountain of youth. She stays young by having sex with men and changing into a new version of herself every 20 years and since her circle is almost complete, this time she chose Evan.In the movie she overwhelms the viewer with all the details and informations once it happens. So much to handle in so little time - not only for Evan. I had to pause the movie and rewind a few times to make sure I understood everything she said.Anyway, our hero has fallen in love with her. Even though during the end of her circle she occasionally changes into some kind of tentacle monster and prays on the living during that phase - be it animals or humans. He wants her to fall in love with him and trade her immortality for a single human life. The story is decent enough and so is the acting. The special effects of her transformation are really nice. Altogether a 7 out of 10.It's just that the conclusion of the movie wasn't likely. I guess I can't be picky about plausibility in a movie with so strong fantasy elements, but still... Also it would have been nice if they gave the ending a bit more room. A few more lines and minutes wouldn't have hurt.
