Armed insurgents attempt a coup d'etat in a troubled Eastern European country, and the president flees to the U.S. embassy for protection. When the U.S. ambassador is murdered by the ruthless and gun-happy rebels, it comes down to the second-in-command of the embassy, Sam Keenan, played by Belgian kickboxer Jean-Claude Van Damme, to use his amazing martial arts technique to defend the besieged.

Dynamixor The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.

cybersupam Though I fully enjoyed SIC while watching it is difficult to give a good *star for this movie. I like Van Damme for his no nonsense and solid facial expression styles, and a must choice is for his action displays. I consider him one of the action stars who use their bodies other than guns and knives. This is what his specific identity for action movies. SIC is not an unique or striking movie but just satisfies your hunger to watch out. One thing I am disappointed with SIC is the quality of the picture or screen which is really very very poor in standard as compared to its sound. It fails to match parallel with the story or standard body movements of the actors. Which is why it failed to reach near major audiences. The story has a bit good taste and to thrill the audiences as long as it is unfinished, but reaching on the last scene it's hard to remember. Yes, as I said it made me to focus and enjoy throughout the movie, but still it lacked some more tastes. After the half of the movie it takes to concentrate on Samuel Keenan's (Van Damme) rank among the security forces when his rivalry with CIA operative Frank Gaines came into existence. He was made one step down in his position under Cpt. Baldwin. And this ignites about to proceed forward of the story. I regret Van Damme is growing old and so he has to limit his action sequences which is a deep depressive matter. Unlike his old hits like Timecop, Hard Target, Double Team, Maximum Risk, Derailed etc. here he has less action shots to present for the audiences. Still then there are also few action scenes which remind all his old hits, and make us to relax. Finally, I prefer others to watch SIC at least once without hesitation, but you should not expect much to get from Van Damme.
movieman-234 Wooden acting. "Plot twists" that you can see coming almost from the opening credits. Utterly and completely predictable. You've got a whole army of "actors" who have obviously never fired a real gun. And why is it that all the shooters in the fire fights just stand out in the open to be shot? Cover's available, but no one seems to think that getting shot might hurt. Most of the movie consists of people standing around talking about who's in charge and what they're going to do (while the bad guys wait patiently outside - doing nothing.)The Marine Expeditionary Force is 6 hours out. The army relief is 4 hours out. They both arrive within minutes of each other... but when the Marines show up, they announce that they are the US Army! Doh! The whole movie is supposed to be setting up tension about whether the defense force can hold out until reinforcements arrive - but it totally fails in that regard. You can almost hear the cast yawning (or was that the audience?) the tension is so - not there. There's the trite and underdone squabble over "who's in command", and of course, any time Van Damme isn't running things, people get whacked.Special effects were unconvincing. Editing looked disjointed and jerky. Could say the same about the acting. The female reporter is such a dip - makes you wonder why the "hero" would have anything to do with her.I rated this movie a '2', because it could have been worse... it could have been longer!
imdb-6340 Worth watching? Yes if you want to see how badly a film can be made. Hand held-style filming is jerky, misses subjects. Special effect in this hand held filming is a sudden zoom jump for no apparent reason or artistic benefit. Hammy filming at its worst. Corny? Save the girl, doesn't matter if any one else dies. Then the real corny child shot at the end. A hero film cannot work without a child being saved. Eh? Dialogue? Attempt at army speak to make it sound tough. Not much else. J-C must have been desperate to deviate from his usual blood and honour plots to make this. Just goes to show that you do not need a good script or good filming to get something produced. If you have seen assault on precinct 13, then you might recognise the theme.
karmicboy This is another American bullshit....Same old plot...Eastern European country...Communists ....a smart ass cowboy....And you call Jean Claude an actor? This is another "US Army Is The Best" movie...In fact the movie has no action, nothing seems to have a target, everything according to the eternal "we are Americans, we will win anyway"No matter that I have 1.50m, i have no idea what fighting means, but I am American...and in eastern Europe...I am the King.... The replies are a weird combination of romanian and Serbian No attention to these details? An advice, next time....make A MOVIE
