XoWizIama Excellent adaptation.
generationofswine Like the last live action Scooby Doo, this one realized what it was. That is to say it knew that it was a kids live action movie and not a cartoon. It realized that it didn't have to be a cartoon to be Scooby Doo and, again, the film benefited from that. The only real sore spot was the music. Scooby Doo has music as a big part of every movie and most of the individual episodes in each of the respective shows...but the music was handled differently. In this case it was handled a little too much like the cartoons to work in a live action rendition that knew it didn't need to try to be a cartoon.Had they handled it more like American Graffiti, it would have worked better and had more of a place. Instead, it felt slightly removed.Otherwise, you have another Scooby Doo movie that succeeds where the first two failed. It's almost a shame these more grounded movies weren't released into the theaters or hyped as much as the first two, the world would have a more positive view of live action Scooby movies
andrew-larrivy I am a Scooby Doo lifer. I am only 21 years old but from the day I started watching television as a young pup I was always watching Scooby Doo. While I enjoyed both Scooby Doo 1 and Scooby Doo 2 and thought they portrayed the characters almost to perfection I think this Scooby and the 1 before are a disgrace to Scooby Doo himself.. Since when did Scooby become about dating and since when did the gang start dating one another?? Shaggy and Velma? I mean come on thats a dang joke! This movie was a shameful and even disgraceful excuse for a Scooby movie and Scoob wasn't even in half the dang movie! I highly recommend not even wasting your money or your time.
aflrunner OK Firstly the people writing these reviews are either blind or haven't seen any of the other Live-action Scooby films, Scooby Doo 2:Monsters Unleashed was simply the BEST THUS FAR, WATCH IT BEFORE YOU COMMENT !!! Shaggy simply couldn't be replaced in this version, acting was great but character representation was OK, Velma on the other hand was a fresh and very appropriate face(Nerdy Look), Daph acted SUPERB but should have been sexier(Hot, Spot On Attractive, Sarah Michelle Gellar was ALMOST PERFECT, but short in stature...), FRED was well a JOKE ! LOL, Messed up his Character BIG TIME(Brown Hair != Blond Hair)..., mind you Robbie Amell acted VERY WELL !, but alas for the WRONG ROLE !
C. Sean Currie (hypestyle) the movie will be great for kids, its family friendly, but thankfully is light on the grossout gags that have become de rigeur in 'kids movies'.. Certain parts may be scary for extremely young viewers (i.e., toddler-aged) but its pretty tame otherwise. The plot follows the Mystery Inc. gang as school lets out for summer and everyone gets a job at Daphne's uncle's country club right on Lake Erie. Only, in this town, there's a legend of a frog-monster and a vengeful witch that scares the locals. Needless to say, the teen sleuths decide to take on the case- stalwart Fred, plucky Daphne, brainy Velma, fearful Shaggy and hungry Scooby..The film's screenplay could have come from the cartoons, and the film includes many of the cartoon-inspired gags like pratfalls, manic chases, characters "instantly" having a disguise on, seeing hearts when they have a crush on someone.. the full blown "light of the silvery moon" musical sequence may capture some of the "Glee"-zeitgeist of today, as well as the psychedelic-pop closing number..for the college-aged (and older) guys out there, yes, Daphne and Velma are very attractive..Lastly, Scooby-Doo "purists" who have balked at the changes to the heretofore blonde Fred and Caucasian Velma should lighten up-- it's been 40+ years since the first cartoons premiered, and the mythos were ripe for a slight reinterpretation. Enjoy with scooby-snacks at hand.
