Wordiezett So much average
VeteranLight I don't have all the words right now but this film is a work of art.
CrawlerChunky In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.
Fairaher The film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.
annawasilewska-69793 The movie is far fetched. The group of people dies one by one as they are not able to climb back the yacht! They make so many attempts to clim back and nothing works! The watcher has an abvious solution of all the men supporting one beautiful lady with their shoulders to climb back but the stupid director leaves this solution as the last resort! What a scam! Boring and upsetting plot of events! Any group of crazy young people in similar life threatening events would obviously have this idea! I mean, I would!!! Nowadays kids climb the trees without branches! One does the hands the other climbs. Why the group of strong men can't do it! This movie could have been done better? The outcome is foreseeable from the beginning, nothing to surprise the watcher. Rubbish!
alantas I watched this film for the first time a while ago and for some reason I watched it again tonight. I have to say, that it is much better, than I remembered. The pivotal moments stayed with me, but seeing it again, left a stronger impression. The accident is so unbelievably dumb, that makes you think how easily we can get in dead serious trouble. All it takes is one irresponsible, dumb friend. In such a surreal situation disbelief and panic kicks in and I imagine, that staying cool and rational is a privilege of a very few human beings. Of course after seeing how the whole story plays out, it's very easy to be smart and to know better... The group dynamic in my opinion was well written. One nervous irrationally behaving individual can derail all the efforts of a team. And they had more of that kind, so failing at their attempts felt natural for me. This film makes you think about how easily faith can cross one's path and throw them the test of their life. In the end I felt a little drained seeing this all too human tragedy. Just as sad as the predecessor. Not an easy watch, but I would recommend it to people, who can place themselves in the situation and humble enough to know that they are not smarter than anyone else.
jlthornb51 Director Hans Horn has brought to the screen one of the most powerful high seas adventure and moving human dramas in a decade. Capturing all the suspense, despair, and ultimate triumph of the human spirit that distinguished the first Open Water, Horn adds is own personal touches of heart breaking intensity. Starring a cast of highly talented actors who give performances of incredible depth, this film presents characters who we grow to love and care about. The imagery is haunting and the thrills unrelenting as these flesh and blood people fight for survival against nature itself. A motion picture that leaves an impression and has a lasting impact on anyone fortunate enough to be numbered in its audience.
MovieHoliks I really enjoyed the original 2004 film, which was a home-made little indie movie in the tradition of "Blair Witch" and "Paranormal Activity" that takes off and becomes a mainstream hit. I saw this movie, and figured, okay, it's probably a direct-to-video title with some more familiar faces than the original had, maybe a little bigger budget, but will probably be god-awful. Well, it wasn't actually as bad as I expected. The premise of the original is this couple is out on a scuba diving expedition in the Caribbean Islands somewhere I think-??- and get left behind by their instructor to fend for themselves in the shark-infested "Open Waters". This one really doesn't have anything to do with the original, other than having a similar premise. The premise of this one is that these three couples are out on their friend's yacht, enjoying the ocean. One of them panics, and they all jump in the water to save her not realizing no one let the ladder down... Okay..would this really be a major problem?? I'm not terribly familiar with the whole mechanisms involved here, so I didn't have an issue with it. I was on board. Now they, like the couple in the original film, have to fend for themselves in the middle of the ocean in shark-infested "Open Waters". But this one, unlike the original, instead of it being "man against beast", it was more "man against man", as they start to turn on each other one by one.So overall, I'm a bit on the fence on this one- probably a marginal thumbs-down. See it if you liked the original, and have nothing better to do some Saturday afternoon, otherwise- if you haven't seen it already- watch the original 2004 film instead...
