Someone would probably think "9 stars for that?" HELL YES 9 STARS! It's really hard to find a romantic comedy that stays on its purpose: be romantic and funny. Well, 'My Best Friend's Girl' definitely gets there. The jokes are mostly entertaining(it gets a bit cheesy at times, but who cares), the male characters are very well played and Kate Hudson's character is everything I want a female character to be: strong, funny, hot and adventurous.Spoilers:The ending really got me and it was way smarter than most romantic comedies' endings. Dustin's character was obviously cheesy as a part of the plot, but I was just feeling so sorry for him getting his eyebrows shaved, getting his painted eyebrows messy by the rain and being like his big love's gay, shopping friend that it made me uncomfortable. A lot of scenes were great and worthy, but Tank crying while watching 'Ghost', that was priceless! If you need a light and beautiful romantic comedy, watch it without a doubt.

The title was an easy indication that this film was a rom-com, I mainly noticed it because of a couple of the stars in it, it may have had a low rating, but I was up for trying a most likely cheesy and possibly full of vulgarity or predictable material, from director Howard Deutch (The Whole Ten Yards). Basically Sherman 'Tank' Turner (Dane Cook) has a job as a help line operator, but he also has a hobby and a near second job, as he sometimes gets paid for it, to help a guy who has split with their girl, and he takes the girl out on a bad date, mostly acting like an asshole so that she will feel the need to go back to her man. His step cousin Dustin (Jason Biggs) who he shares an apartment with is the latest guy to need his help, he fell for his work colleague Alexis (Razzie nominated Kate Hudson) and took her on many dates, but he told her she loved him and she replies that she feels they are more friends, so she leaves him. Tank offers his help but Dustin does not agree to him and his services, but then he sees another co-worker and her flirting, so then he begs Tank take her out and do his thing, he bumps into her and arranges the date, and obviously he acts moronic, but she is too drunk to take notice and sees that he is doing it deliberately. Alexis asks Dustin to meet her, but she does not want to be with him, she explains that having a bad date has encouraged her to go out with other men in the hope she will find the right man, so Dustin sends some flowers and a poem with Tank's name on to set up another date for them. Instead of going on a date however Tank and Alexis have sex together, and this becomes a frequent activity, and while this is going on Dustin is trying everything he can think of to convince her that he does just want to be friends, maybe more. Of course as they spend more time together Tank realises he is gaining true feelings for his best friend's girl, he consults with his father Professor Turner (Alec Baldwin), a womaniser himself, but the old man doubts he can be with her and have a serious relationship. He next attends the wedding of Rachel (Diora Baird), Alexis' sister, and he realises one of his previous bad dates was with her, and the groom Josh (Taran Killam) wants his help to keep the bride on good terms, but worse for him is when he overhears Alexis admitting her love for him to Rachel. Feeling guilty for his manipulation Tank sabotages any relationship with her by deliberately causing, and he calls Dustin, who caught them together, telling him that he is sorry, but he is at the reception as well to reveal what the bad date stuff as a hobby, and all Tank can do is point out the numerous clients he recognises, before being punched and thrown out. Tank realises he truly does love Alexis, Dustin and his father understand and encourage him to find her and make things better, he does find her while jogging and all she does is engage in a little conversation while continuing to run, he keeps up as long as he can while she is unmoved by his explaining. Three months pass, and Alexis catches Tank on a date with her roommate Ami (Lizzy Caplan), she throws wine in his face and his date walks away, they have a bit of an argument in front of the restaurant customers, this lightens down as they realise they love each other, and they embrace with a true love kiss, and with Tank's father guidance Dustin finds himself a girlfriend with Ami. Cook is the absolute right decision to play the intentional dickhead but who actually has a heart, Hudson is likable sometimes but overall a bit dull and just good for her looks, and Biggs does his usual awkward character trying to get somewhere with the girl but failing miserably. The film is predictable in the sense of the guy finds the girl, screws it up, but gets with her in the end premise, but the being a tosser on purpose part to help someone else get the girl is a relatively new and alternative plot, obviously though it makes for some terribly droll moments, but some of it did genuinely make me laugh, so overall it was not such a disappointing romantic comedy. Adequate!

Gee what a surprise. Bad acting job for Ms. Hudson. Another Hollywood buffoon that would be nowhere near Hollywood, if she did not have a relative in the industry. This movie gets a 2 because it had a creative plot. A little offbeat from normal romance comedies.Thats where it ends. Basically a story about a guy that has his best friend date the girl he is trying to woo , an overly vulgar Dane Cook, thus the hope that nebush Jason Biggs looks like the real prize. Obviously , most of us understand where the plot is going from here.. Like we could not see it coming from a thousand miles away lmao. This film was not funny, badly acted and just seemed like it was thrown together like a Hurricane knocks around debris. This was an uneven film that is on the dubious list of films that just did not need to be made. The soundtrack was great , but nothing else was. Horrible comedy, that just makes those that watched the whole thing look stupid. Save your time folks.
