Maidexpl Entertaining from beginning to end, it maintains the spirit of the franchise while establishing it's own seal with a fun cast
Lidia Draper Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.
Derrick Gibbons An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
Taha Avalos The best films of this genre always show a path and provide a takeaway for being a better person.
Michael Ledo POSSIBLE PLOT SPOILERS This is a comedy-action film with an all-star "B" cast and music by Oscar winner Bill Conti. Eddie Lomax is delivering an Old Indian motorcycle to "old Indian" Danny Trejo (His joke, not mine). He stops in the middle of the desert and further dehydrates with some alcohol which leads to some bullies to take his bike and leave him for dead. Trejo nurses him back to health and Eddie (Jean-Claude Van Damme) vows revenge to get the bike back, save the terrorized town, and break up the biker/meth dealers....and stop the aliens...shhhh! I loved the humor of the film with roles by Pat Morita, Jaime Pressly, Ford Rainey, Priscilla Pointer, and Vincent Schiavelli (you'll know him when you see him.) Van Damme does the worst Rodney King impersonation with his, "Can't we all get along" line. The film also had corny lines written by adolescents like, "I really want to thank you" where we all will her to drop the towel. The film was badly anachronistic. Pat Morita is reading a newspaper dating from WWII while modern jets fly overhead and girls wear tank tops and jeans. The implication of the film was this incident is what caused the "Area 51" UFO craze. In reality we know Agent Jean-Claude Van Damme Johnson was working undercover on assignment and in his free time was at said area, most likely saving the planet from aliens all the while he is making this film.Guide: F-word, sex, nudity (Nikki Bokal) BTW people don't normally visit a diner right after snorting meth.
Tango and Cash Not much ass kicking in this one - very little in fact. But, on the plus side, everything JCVD shoots with a gun explodes (motorcycles, barrels, etc.). There's a few building explosions in there too which is pretty sweet. The scenery is nice - filmed in the Mojave desert in Cali. Would love to check that out. Also, there are a few great tit shots (why doesn't every movie have 'em?), a respectful nod to the 80s when they were mandatory. Young Jamie Pressly looks hot. Damn. Pat Morita's accent is hilarious, and the old man from the Seinfeld episode is in this movie too (the one that has the old records that Kramer and Neuman take). So bad it's good. jacobnunnally.blogspot.com
daworldismine this van damme action flick is a decent enough, but its quite light on action until the end, and even then its quick and not really exiting, but never the less its enjoyable enough, and even offers up a few laughs, not all intentional, there are a couple of good fights, but not many, and not too long, there short and snappy, there is a supporting role from danny trejo and im still not sure why hes there he just is, i enjoyed this movie, it was far from boring, but it wasn't one of his best not even close, but it remains a decent action flick none the less, and i recommend to van damme fans, as they may wanna check this out
axlrhodes I sat down to watch this film in the mood for some slam bang Van Damme action but was a little let down by the lack of action and the silly characters on show. The tone of the film was similar to Oliver Stones U-Turn but this was nowhere near as engaging or well directed.Jean Claudes best films are the ones where he plays a vulnerable character fighting for a meaningful cause such as AWOL where he's fighting for his dead brothers wife and kid,or Kickboxer for his paralysed brother. This film is a little wandering and off centre.I tries to be offbeat with its characters and humour but the film makers have obviously lost sight of what people who watch Van Damme films want.Action, action and more Damme action. I gave this film 5 out of 10 upon viewing but the more i think about it, i should have given it a 3.
