Reviews

Cubussoli Very very predictable, including the post credit scene !!!
FuzzyTagz If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.
Ariella Broughton It is neither dumb nor smart enough to be fun, and spends way too much time with its boring human characters.
Jonah Abbott There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.
Leofwine_draca GUN WOMAN is a low budget, gritty slice of Japanese exploitation, shot in America, that contains some explicit themes and a lot of style to make up for the lack of budget. The director certainly works hard to build up a sense of rhythm and dynamism and he succeeds in that respect, making a film which is watchable despite the darkness of some of the subject matter. The tale is about a crazed assassin with a penchant for necrophilia who's protected by a sinister organisation for whatever reason. A man whose wife was murdered decides to get revenge, but the bad guy's level of defence is such that doing so will prove near impossible. So he concocts a plan that involves endless nudity on the part of the lead actress and some very outre moments.GUN WOMAN is a strong film in terms of subject matter. The female nudity is constant while the gore is very strong indeed and painful too in places. The film is dialogue heavy at times but it's never silly unlike some other Japanese exploitation movies like TOKYO GORE POLICE. It builds to an effective bit of action cinema at the climax with the last 20 minutes chock-full of well-choreographed mayhem. Is it a perfect film? No, not really, but then few films are. GUN WOMAN delivers what it sets out to deliver, which is to give the viewer an hour and a half of heavily stylised violence with an original streak.
trashgang By now for many lovers of the Asian horror Asami is the new Asian scream queen. I agree, I have seen a lot of flicks with Asami and my bond with her goes even further. A few years ago I had the opportunity to speak with her, well, not really because she doesn't understand and talk English, so her translator Kurando Mitsutake (the director of this flick) helped me out talking with her and agreed to take a picture with her. On her flight back it's were she agreed to Kurando to appear in his flick, Gun Woman. Last year I saw Asami back again with Kurando to promote this flick and can be seen as extra on the DVD/Blu Ray release. I wondered how it came that this flick did had a lot of bad reviews. I did like it but I can understand the problem.First of all, this isn't an usual Asami horror, this is more an action flick and Asami doesn't say a word here. Further there's a lot of talking and training going on which makes it rather slow for a lot of people. But if you can sit through that part you will be rewarded with gore and a lot of nudity of Asami.Asami told us that she never had any problem with nudity which is normal if you see her past coming out of the Japanese porn industry, so here she goes the last 25 minutes naked. And by that I mean, full frontal, shaved and unshaved. So for those who wants to see her in full glory this is your flick. The story itself is rather simple as it is a pure revenge flick but some will be turned away by the amount of nudity and the gory parts. There's necrophilia and rape going on by a man with a face you will never forget. And the way it was shot did gave it an extra perverted look.Be advised that if you will pick this up that you will take the full uncut version as i did because Kurando has said it himself, it will be cut down in so many countries due the nudity and some gory shots. Asian lovers doesn't be warned what this is all about but for the "normal" horror geeks please be advised that you are watching a Japanese flick.Gore 2/5 Nudity 4/5 Effects 3/5 Story 3/5 Comedy 0/5
annaned I'm a little surprised because I see a lot of bad critics. I don't think you absolutely have to be a fan of Japanese gore movies to enjoy this excellent film. This is strange, gore, disturbing, ugly and violent. However it's also a deep, beautiful and captivating tale about vengeance but also and especially about humanity, compassion, and union. To me the whole point of the story is how two human beings can be bound by hatred, pain and emptiness and feed their relationship with violence and blood. It shows that love is not the only feeling that's able ton bring people together, dark feelings can also lead to a relation that's again more subtil, interesting and strong. Besides my interpretation of the relation ship between the two characters, I loved the ambiance, the filming techniques that make the film looks older than it is and create a unique estheticism, the amazing actors (especially mayumi and the mean guy) The uncluttered settings are also very elaborated and well thought to fit this plot which by the way seem very deja vu, basic and clumsy; however don't trust the synopsis which make everything seem simpler that it really is : the story is deep and full of facets, there are a hundred ways to interpret and appreciate Gun Woman. It has to be seen
ssedita basic summary: lots of gore, nudity, simple plot and mediocre acting. yet somehow ended up rather entertaining. seriously there is lots of gore and nudity combined, aka the last like 20 mins or so features the bloody and naked main character fulling her, um, purpose. not for the faint of heart or for those with nudity issues. great 80's themed soundtrack and very stylish (as in grind house style) that is consistent throughout. this won't be winning any academy awards but for those whose don't mind the, 'artistic' use of gore and nudity this is a decently entertaining film.
