Wonderful character development!

If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.

A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.

It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,

This movie had the potential to be either brilliant or a disaster. It happens for me to be neither, but while flawed it is not a bad movie at all. The main problem is the editing, which is very bad in places, especially in the fight sequences. The CGI effects, especially the dragon, are rather substandard, though I have also seen worse. The pacing is a little rushed at times. And as much as I have liked Patrick Swayze in other films, he's unforgettable in Dirty Dancing, he sleepwalks through his role here. However, the rest of the acting is really quite good, James Purefoy is a charismatic hero and Piper Perabo exudes charm and spunk as the princess. Michael Clarke Duncan is also enjoyable, but I wish there was more of him. The costumes and sets are entrancing, giving a wondrous fantasy-adventure feel, while the score is sparkling. The script is witty and charming, and while genre clichés the characters on the whole are likable. The fight scenes while awkwardly edited are actually well choreographed. All in all, watchable movie but nothing outstanding. 6/10 Bethany Cox

This movie starts out great, and sucks you in. Most acting is good until Patrick Swayze (with his Texas Twang- everyone else sounds British-like even the Muslim) shows up, and proves that he can't act. You can live with that until the first fight scene where all they all fall to pieces. Why does Patrick Swayze fight baddies with an ax when he just stuck his sword into the ground 5 minutes ago. There's further misplacing of swords a few minutes later, and people knowing about other people they shouldn't know about. Other reviewers mentioned "Troubled Production" and it shows. At the end I just didn't even care about the fight scenes, sure, the CGI Dragon was weak, but the storyline was the biggest letdown.

I rented this one for some evening's mind pablum and my wife and I enjoyed it thoroughly. OK. It's not St. George and is full of anachronisms, goofs and puns and is more slapstick than sandals and slice 'em up. But, the cast is delightful and even the villains are having a good time. If you're familiar with the several versions of George and the Dragon, there are lots of good puns and carry-overs to amuse it but the amazing thing is it works. It doesn't lapse into stupidity or overdone, ham-bone theatrics. The pace is quick, regular and interest is maintained throughout the story. I plan to show it to my grandkids as it is a jolly romp through one of our grand old myths.

This is the one movie that represents all that is bad in the movie business. The actors are pathetic and the script is awful. The special effects, if there are any, are so badly done that it would have been better to do it with cartoons instead. Besides that it's great! I think the creators of the movie meant it to have humor, but the only time i was laughing was when I saw Patrick S. with long hair and the colorful costumes that every one had. The scenes at the end were good but they were not a part of the movie. In the end you will ask yourself "why did I waste my time and money with that crap when I could have watched the plants growing or the clouds moving". I don't think that I am some critic or anything but this is a truly lame movie! DO NOT WATCH! DANGER OF STUPIDITY OVERLOAD!
