AnhartLinkin This story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.
Rosie Searle It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
Lela The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.
brandonrhewitt Its such a good film very funny at times, definitely looking forward to see how this part of the universe goes, amazing acting, don't listen to the haters there just boring people who can never be happy so they just diss anything and everything
debora-bibb The movie is not good, but I will give it credit that it improves a bit in the last half, but never to the point where it is really good. Daphne is suddenly half white and half black in this movie and has either a bad dye job, or a bad wig, because the hair does not look close to real. The Velma in the Cartoon Network live action movies is part Japanese, so a mixed-race cast member can work, but it feels forced in this movie. It was as if someone said, "Let us make it more diverse by shoving a mixed-race character into the script with a hammer." The dialog seems to have been written by an old fogey who put down what they think high school kids would say. The plot, especially at the start of the movie, is bad; now, Scooby-Doo is not known for great plots, but this is makes the others seem like Shakespeare. The special effects were really cheap sitcom quality. The action is set in High School, but is supposed to be before they meet Fred, Shaggy, and Scooby-Doo; however, the show should have been set earlier. If one includes A Pup Named Scooby-Doo the movie becomes impossible, but ignoring that show, it should have been set in Junior High School to fit with the rest of the series. The actors seem to be trying to work with the script's limitations. The plot is predictable, I had all but one element figured out in the first few minutes. There is a scene dealing with Daphne and Velma which actually got a laugh out of me, not from them, but from another character. The idea had potential, the plot could have worked, and the acting could have worked if the script had been better.
Louis Mattox Daphne and Velma is a funny, feminist, and weird in a good way movie. Ignore the haters who are saying that this movie is bad just because Fred, Shaggy, and, Scooby are not in it. Yes, I admit it isn't exactly award show worthy and some parts are downright cheesy and don't totally make sense, but that doesn't take away from how awesome it actually is. I mean this movie updated the Scooby Doo universe to a whole new century full of feminism and biracial leads and I for one whole heartedly accept these updates and hope that you will too. So try to ignore the haters and watch this movie yourself. From your own opinion. Oh and if you have kid relatives or friends invite them along and I'm sure you won't regret it.
ewaldfamilyof When my husband picked this movie up for our daughters who are 9 and 10, I hadn't even heard of it. I thought it would be something that they would probably watch, mildly enjoy and forget about. We put it on while we were all working on legos and before I knew it, they had stopped building completely and were watching it without distraction. I laughed so hard at so many parts of this film and so did my girls. It touches on numerous feminist ideas in very subtle ways like the mother being the girl boss and the dad being a stay at home dad, how one of their biggest fears was that there would never be a female president and that there is NO love interest what so ever for either of the girls. It was refreshing, and unexpectedly really funny. The music and wardrobe was great as well. By the end we were hoping that there would be a follow up in the form of a sequel, tv show or web series. We have owned it for 3 days and its been watched 3 times. This isn't meant for teenagers though- so I'm not sure how old the other reviewers were or what they expected but I and my girls were pleasantly surprised.
