Glucedee It's hard to see any effort in the film. There's no comedy to speak of, no real drama and, worst of all.
Merolliv I really wanted to like this movie. I feel terribly cynical trashing it, and that's why I'm giving it a middling 5. Actually, I'm giving it a 5 because there were some superb performances.
AnhartLinkin This story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.
Rexanne It’s sentimental, ridiculously long and only occasionally funny
donaldricco When you love your 10 year old daughter very much, this is what you do. Like listening to Taylor Swift sing. Or trying an Impossible Burger. Or just taking a bullet. This was a painful 112 minutes (yes I counted!) and by the gods, I truly feel like I am dumber than I was before. I could go on and on about how terrible this was, but just looking at the picture above has caused my head to hurt and my body to cramp up. I would rather have my hair and fingernails beauty shopped by my daughter and her friends and also have all my teeth pulled by a rusty pair of pliers while letting numerous insects lay their eggs in both of my ear canals than see part 2. But as I said, I love my daughter very much. Bullet #2 is on its way...
Davis P I wanna make it very clear that this is a Disney Channel original movie. It is not exactly held to the same level as other movies. I watched this film keeping in mind that it is made for TV and targeted towards children. I will say that I liked the casting, I thought the actors fit their individual roles. Also, the musical numbers and singing is very good mostly. There are a couple of the teenage actors that haven't quite gotten where they need to be as far as singing goes, but Kristen Chenoweth was of course incredible. How could you star in one of the biggest Broadway hits ever and not be superb at singing. So I really enjoyed her and most of the singing. I also liked the character Mal, and I liked Ben too, and their connection. They had great chemistry. The plot is very very predictable, you can for sure predict what is gonna happen next. Of course that is a thing with Disney Channel, so just know that. I think this film is pretty good for a child audience. 7/10 for Descendants.
divyanka Descendants is a movie based on the children of four major, evil, villainous characters of Disney, and had great potential. However, it the worst movie I have ever seen. There was no development of all the things that could have happened, the great story plot that it could have been. Most of the story becomes very lame and boring 'school' experiences the villains' children have, and is uninteresting throughout. There could have been huge schemes and subplots to make this complicated, but it was basic and dull, like mostly all movies that air on Disney Channel. Again, for some reason, it seems that the shows and movies on Disney Channel are all strangely lame. The character choices for the villains' children was terrible. Only the Aladdin one was suitable, and no one else. The daughter of the evil witch from Snow White was very annoying, and so was the other boy. A bad character choice, an extremely boring storyline, and terrible songs for the most part. *4/10*
averymeier The movie Descendants has a good overall plot and strong backstory, however this movie's script, story line, and general message needs a stronger viewpoint that supports the idea of the story better. In the script there were several spots where the communication/dialogue between characters could have been reworded or improved. Also, I feel the overall message, or in other words, "learning lesson" of the story was a bit odd for a Disney Channel Original. Instead of them trying to teach kids to be themselves, it seemed more like they were implying that everyone who lived with the "good guys" we're completely perfect, and that in order for the kids of the villains to remain there, they had to be like them. Not everyone is perfect. I think it would have been a better if the resolution were that they remained the same, but their new friends excepted them as they were.
