Reviews

GamerTab That was an excellent one.
TrueHello Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
Senteur As somebody who had not heard any of this before, it became a curious phenomenon to sit and watch a film and slowly have the realities begin to click into place.
Gurlyndrobb While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.
hemipirate I loved this movie. Before watching this, I'd heard bits and pieces of the Jeffrey Dahmer story but had never seen anything with any substance about him. Maybe it's because of that, but Jeremy Renner had me engulfed in the story. I found myself fascinated by the disgusting actions of Dahmer. I watched it about 10 times since.
Tss5078 Naturally after Gacy, I had to move on and watch Dahmer, it was just one of those nights. Unlike the Gacy film, Dahmer was more typical of what you see from these types of movies. Jeffrey Dahmer's crimes may have been just as shocking as Gacy's, but Dahmer was of a completely different personality, one that doesn't really equate to film. Unlike Gacy, Dahmer was really shy and introverted, avoiding interacting with people that he wasn't planning on killing. The movie version of Dahmer's was honestly as boring as a Horror film could get. Much of it shows Dahmer alone in his apartment, torturing his victims, and much of the time, there isn't even any dialog! Jeremy Renner stars and does as good of a job as someone can do with a role like this, but to be completely honest I found this film to be nothing but boring. Even the graphic scenes the film portrays in order to shock you, don't really cut it. Dahmer may have been just as deranged as Gacy, but the two men were very different. Gacy's film was interesting, Dahmer's put me to sleep. Dahmer is one movie you can most definitely avoid watching.
D-Mon If you have read a bit about Dahmers life before watching this movie, as I have, then you will definitely be disappointed. The man was notorious for eating some of his victims and performing twisted acts on and with the remains, yet there's no or almost no reference to that in the movie.Despite that, Jeremy Renner did a great acting job, so the movie wasn't too boring, I just expected so much more of it. You can see it as the "light version" of Dahmers life. What bugged me the most, was the abrupt ending: you're still waiting for things to happen and then the movie just stops... really frustrating! So a 6 out of 10 it is for me. Could have been much better!
benzed I saw this film a few years ago, The final scene showed Dahmer disemboweling one of his victims and having sex with the body. Just watched this again and that was no longer in the film. Doing a search shows this version seems to have disappeared with only a trace at amazon.co.uk Very unusual for there to be no record of this on IMDb or WikipediA. Made the film that much more disturbing. I wouldn't say that should be a deal-breaker because I would recommend this film for Renners portrayal and performance. I will say that the movie really let me down the second time viewing due to the total lack of gore that the UNCUT version provided.
