Reviews

Crwthod A lot more amusing than I thought it would be.
Kaelan Mccaffrey Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.
Rosie Searle It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
Scarlet The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
rahuljonathan-nair BOSS is a clear departure from previous Akshay starrers , yet it has everything that spectators look for in masala fares in fact, BOSS is a fast-moving roller-coaster ride that gives you no time to think. It offers entertainment by the bucketful and celebrates the formula with panache. Director Anthony D'Souza who failed so miserably in "Blue", here rises out of the deep to deliver a full-blast rabble-rouser. Every moment in "Boss" is a celebration of cinematic conventions derived from decades of Bollywood entertainment. This is a fast-paced, zany, full-on masala fare. There is a tempting swagger to Akshay's performance matched by the narration's tidal tempo. Irresistible energy and endearing gusto underline the show's voracious appetite for a comic kill. On the whole, BOSS is a full-on masala entertainer that's very clear of its intent. It is designed to magnetize lovers of desi commercial cinema and woo the BO. If you savor and relish old-school masaledaar entertainers, BOSS is sure to win you over. Watch this one -- it's a paisa vasool entertainer! Ekdum fit hai, Boss!
Jasrick Johal BOSS is as Vidya Balan said in the Dirty Picture pure ENTERTAINMENT,ENTERTAINMENT and ENTERTAINMENT. Its a Akshay Kumar show all the way, he comes up with a Mindblowing performance and shows he is the baap of action and comedy in bollywood nobody comes even close!!! BOSS unlike other mindless rnasala entertainers has a story, the films is about a father son relationship, and how a brother protects his younger brother from a corrupt cop. Acting wise the ensemble cast of Shiv Pandit, Johnny Lever, Sanjay Mishra impress. But the likes of Mithun Chakavarty, Danny Denzonpa give first rate amazing performances. Ronit Roy plays the villain and matches up to Akshay Kumar in the climax fight which by the way is a treat for action lovers. Ronit Roy is first rate. But of course as stated before Akshay Kumar walks away with all the praise, its a film for his fans for sure!!! Dir Anthony D Souza after blue flopping has hit the right notes with BOSS. He has made India's best action film, and keeps everyone entertained with great comedy and a good emotional touch. Overall if you want watch a good action comedy film, with the right dose of emotion, or if you want watch a great masala entertainer which is not mindless watch BOSS this eid. This one is a sure shot blockbuster which is made for AKSHAY KUMAR FANS!!!!
Abhilash Mazumdar Boss is strictly a routine action+comedy flick which we have seen a thousand times in Hindi Cinema.... Anthony D'souza from horrible Blue(2009) to Boss(2013) has not evolved that much, Of course it is better than Blue but not very good...Boss is a story a boy who is hated by his father for his bad anger and it lead him to become a criminal and after all the melodrama about the hero and a villain...Story'Screenplay and Dialogues : Story by Farhad- Sajid is nothing to cheer about. Its the old routine drama we have seen. The Screenplay is rather engaging accept the unnecessary flashback scenes. It binds the audience well . Dialogue are also routine, sometimes out of the box like repeating" Apne ko sirf Paani nikalna hai" is irritating after sometime...Performances: Akshay Kumar is very good in emotional scenes. He emotes really well. But overall he is just okay.Ronit Roy is just exceptional as Ayushmann Thakur. He delivers a tremendous performance once again. But I felt maybe he should have a more scene presence. Shiv Pandit is just wasted. We have seen him in Shaitan and he was very good. But wasted totally here. Aditi Rao Hydari has nothing to do. She is Bad in everything she has done. Mithun Chakraborty has done a good work. He is a great actor and has shown his maturity. Danny is Okay.. Aakash Dabhade as Minister's son Vishal is very good Direction: Anthony D'souza has done a horrible movie before that was Blue. With Respect to Blue he has done a good job. But overall he is just a mediocre director. Overall, If u r a Akshay fan you can go for it . If u r not still you can go for it but at your own risk...!!!
DareDevilKid Reviewed by: Dare Devil Kid (DDK) Rating: 3/5 starsHarmless fun. Thankfully the fun is not numbed down by being all too brainless - just the sporadic instance here and there, mostly interspersed within the action scenes. Akshay Kumar enjoys himself in a role he can sleep through and he succeeds in involving the audience in his revelry. We even get to see him doing some real action and stunts after a long time.Shiv Pandit just passes muster, while Aditi Rao Hydari literally has nothing to do. Sadly Mithun forgot his acting chops at home, and Danny's acting chops are criminally underutilized. But above all, the real scene stealer from the very first frame he enters till the last is Ronit Roy, who essays his first complete negative role with sublime malevolence.
