Acensbart Excellent but underrated film
MusicChat It's complicated... I really like the directing, acting and writing but, there are issues with the way it's shot that I just can't deny. As much as I love the storytelling and the fantastic performance but, there are also certain scenes that didn't need to exist.
Arianna Moses Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.
nathanf11 Zombie movie fans need to watch this. Sure the acting and dialogue is pretty terrible, but I found it to be highly entertaining. It's unbelievable to me that this movie was made for a mere $15,000. The special effects and zombie makeup are great considering the low budget, and Thomas Newman introduces some new ideas (at least ones I've never seen in zombie entertainment) that I found to be quite inventive. I thought that the "stoner" aspect would end up ruling this flick a bit more, but it was secondary to zombies, which I enjoyed as well. If you do take the time to check it out, make sure you watch it through the credits for even more fun.
John boy Billie ray jones III First of all id like to say a big thank you to the the weird guy with big earrings and a stupid multicoloured haircut at the local videoezy. He recommended this movie to me while i was there last night and i feel he needs some credit. As soon as i got home i got my massive mission impossible 2 combo cup and filled it to the brim with a little thing i like to poetry juice which is basically mango nectar and pineapple rind with a hint of Labradoodle DNA and an imported industrial sized box of pop corn of which i picked up on my way home from a roadside vendor named Deshawn Landry if you would like to get in contact with him his number is 1800 get-popped, then took the DVD out of the cheap plastic case that the store gave to me and handled it with extreme care because i knew already that it would be great just by judging the disc print. when in the VCR the DVD didn't actually work so i decided to change it and put it in my DVD player but then it didn't register so i worked out that i had to turn the DVD player on first.i have a formula for a great film and here it is budget x number of cast members + the amount of letters the director has in his last name / the average rating on the sydney morning herald newspaper x the shoe size of the sound editors left foot = the perfect movie. and safe to say that bong of the dead equates out. but correct me if I'm wrong.the opening scene set it all for me and the brilliant acting by the old couple was something to behold, the character introduction wasn't needed as Edwin and tommy were perfectly in sync with each other and the set explained it all for me. the story line is better than what i expect from a zombie movie and to tell you the truth it could stand up to any blockbuster like happy feet 2 or the Muppet's go to Manhattan. i was always wondering who or what was coming next and was biting my nails the whole way through (partly because i had long nails and i had forgotten where i put my nail clipper) but the character of Alex i found to be the best because no one was guessing that zombies had different sexual tendencies particularly because they lack any form of genitalia whatsoever. but they must.Leah is very well played she comes across as cold and dark at first but with a bit light drinking and a large amount of illegal plant substances. she lightens up a bit and becomes one of the center points of the whole movie. the director has done extremely well with only the small budget he had to work with although the special effects were A class and i don't know how he actually did it.towards the end it never got old and i found that the movie could have gone on for another hour and it still would have been entertaining. i loved the ending and anything with a ford f250 truck and multiple lawn mowers its going to be a good one. unless its a lawnmowing service then it may not be as entertaining as id hoped.i plead you if you are at the video store and see this on the shelf rent it and watch it i think it will be the best hour and thirty minutes of the week for you providing you don't fall asleep first and don't intake any red bull(all rights reserved red bull and its logo are property of the Pepsi Company and is used accordingly) its an example of film making at its finest.P.S the catering staff need a big thank you because without them the cast and crew wouldn't get the necessary nutrition they needed for the acrobatic stunts and intense dialog.
cherrywaves-250-914512 Possibly the worst movie of all time. I feel robbed of my six dollars I spent to hire the disc. I would suggest that anyone over the age of twelve years of age should disregard this "film" completely. Unless you are into unrealistic glorification of Marijuanna use this could be a real entertaining 90 minutes for you. The script was so terrible that the fact that one man, with one camera, obviously put a lot of work into this disaster-piece, was still unable to gain respect from any one person in the room full of people in which I forced myself to endure this film with. All in all I genuinely feel robbed of .....my time, my money, brain cells and maybe even dignity suggesting that it may be worth watching when i seen it on the film store shelf.
Robert Wilson We have had rash of "this movie was done on this really low budget" movies as of late and the problem is most come off as just that - a bad movie with no budget. Selling a bad movie that way doesn't make the movie any better. With that comes the $5000 zombie movie Bong of the Dead by Thomas Newman. When I watch a zombie movie I expect a few simple things - good zombies, plausible storyline, and great zombie deaths. Anyone can shoot a zombie in the head but it's the movies that take the time to be creative in this niche that stand out. Couple that with a good story and you'll get my attention. Most low-budget movies might hit one of those expectations but rarely all. Bong of the Dead hit them all and shucks the recent trend of low budget=poor movie. It's clear that Thomas Newman put thousands of hours into his creation. It just doesn't come off as a $5000 movie. With the special effects wonder-kid Mike Fields goring up the movie and Newman's directing the movie left me feeling entertained.I was first turned on to the movie when I saw a trailer for it featuring a ramped up pickup truck sporting a trio of lawnmowers. Newman's movie doesn't disappoint here with some great zombie-mowing action. Fans of gallons of blood will not want to miss this. This scene kicks off the climax of the film and zombie pieces are flying everywhere. Our hapless potheads and their new hot female ally dish out the pain. The sick factor was also plugged with a rather disgusting display of zombie on zombie cannibalism - I have a feeling this scene won't make it into the American market for just who gets eaten.Jy Harris playing Tommy Peart and Mark Wynn who plays Edwin Peredo are the two stoner buddies who discover a miracle use for zombie brains that suits their 'green' side. They set off in search of more zombie fertilizer only to find themselves over their heads. They find themselves at the end of Leah Kroaker's shotgun (played by the sexy Simone Bailly) and the fun ensues.Pot and zombies do go together. Don't let the $5000 total budget turn you off this movie. The quality is there in spades and Thomas Newman and Mike Fields made this zombie movie fan happy for an hour and a half.
