Did you people see the same film I saw?

It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,

My personal opinion is that this is contrary to what the opening credits promised (a low-budget vampire-flick) a lot more interesting than it seems at first glance. The story is well written, the interaction between the characters is very good, and the atmosphere that is created is very tense. The combined effects of camera-angles, lightning and sound gave the movie a feeling a previously only encountered in David Lynch-movies. Anyone in this movie for some corny sex-scenes is certainly barking up the wrong tree, even though it hints at the link between sexuality and vampirism. But maybe I am just deranged... I liked "Razor Blade Smile" as well. ;-)
Dr. Gore
*SPOILER ALERT* *SPOILER ALERT* I bought this video for four bucks. For some reason, I don't know, maybe it was the woman with fangs on the video box cover, I thought this was a vampire flick. Silly me. It's really a melodrama with some blood sucking. This is not a horror movie. "Bloodthirsty" is a simple exercise in B-movie making. A hot blonde and some blood is all you need. The good news is that the blonde, (Monique Parent), gets naked. Her brunette roommate, (Leslie Danon), is actually hotter than the blonde. But even though it has two good points, "Bloodthirsty" is pretty pointless. Not much happens here. You know, like excitement, tension, action, etc. It's all about sharing blood with your roommate. One last thought, you may notice Julie Strain sitting with two women on the back of the video box. This is a classic B-movie move. Don't be fooled, (like me), into thinking Strain has much to do with this one. Strain doesn't show up until the very, very end. If you blink, you may miss her.

Cheap (and I mean CHEAP; I don't know what they paid the actors, but the rest of the budget must have been around 50 dollars; it was shot on KODAK film stock!) softcore thriller is mostly talk, with minimal horror elements and a monotonous performance by Monique Parent. The director plays so much with the lighting that you would think the house where the action takes place is a disco. (*1/2)

It starts out with great potential. Ms Parent is wonderfully sinister, and Ms Danon is beautiful and vulnerable looking. Early in the movie one can guess what will happen and it does. The erotic scenes (too few) were too dark and seemed to end too quickly, so much ,that I thought there was an "unrated" version that was more complete, but I guess not. In the genre of Lesbian Vampirism, this could have been terrific, but fell short. The acting was fine, and I am prompted to check out other videos starring either of these ladies.
