Perry Kate Very very predictable, including the post credit scene !!!
Dynamixor The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.
CrawlerChunky In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.
Jakoba True to its essence, the characters remain on the same line and manage to entertain the viewer, each highlighting their own distinctive qualities or touches.
Sandcooler The back story to "Attack Force" is really depressing, even to Steven Seagal's standards. Apparently he really tried to do something different with this one. It was supposed to be his first stab at a horror/sci-fi movie (originally it was called "Harvester"), featuring a Seagal 2.0 that fought an army of vampires in what must have been some kind of off-brand "Blade" (at times the style is clearly reminiscent). Unfortunately, the executive producers usually get the final cut and they suddenly figured: why take a chance with something new when there's always a buck in generic action movies? A bajillion reshoots, redubs and recuts later we got "Attack Force", which is about 5% action and 95% explaining how the old footage is supposed to fit into the new plot (but seriously, why would an "experimental drug" make you want to lick blood off a window?). Any dialogue scene will usually start with Seagal saying a line from the original movie, then it will cut away from his face and the worst impersonator of all time takes over to give us all kinds of new exposition. Like most recent Seagal movies, this movie also has way too many sets of characters that are mainly there to pad out the running time. We have Seagal's team, and then you have the vampires/drug addicts/whatever, what else do you need? Why is there a French cop following everyone around, why are there extra government guys that are supervised by more extra government guys? Who needs all that crap in a B-movie, get to the fighting. I've got to say though, the fights are quite jumpy but really not that bad. Most of it is done by a stunt double, but it looks fine and pretty stylish. Kinda makes you wonder what "Harvester" would have been like. Unfortunately, we'll probably never know and are stuck with this headache-inducing mess.
beeyl65 What a damned shame! Seagal used to be dan 7 level aikido master, but you couldn't tell if he'd ever stepped inside a dojo in his life by viewing this piece of garbage. Truly, the most interesting thing about this film is trying to guess if the actor doing the voice over for Seagal might be someone famous. It sounded a bit like Bill Pullman to me, but I can't believe that Pullman would ever stoop so low as to take such a gig, and in such a dreadful piece of dreck as this. Then again, there's Michael Caine's career - with wonderful performances interspersed with the tragic and awful - so anything is possible. The best part of the film would be if you never bothered watching it. Seriously, if you want the effect of watching "Attack Force," but can't afford a radical lobotomy, just pummel yourself in the skull with a hammer for four to five minutes. Your IQ will drop 20 points either way, but the hammering wastes an hour-and-a-half less of your life.
PathetiCinema This movie has everything you could wish for from an action epic. Nice.It has Seagal walking around in the dark and mumbling while wearing a black plastic looking knee length jacket. Gone are the nice black leather knee length jackets from his previous movies. Anyway, the knee length leather plastic jacket has to fight of hordes of junkies with a taste for junk. They attack with great force and a lot of people end up slightly dead. However, Steven Seagal's black knee length plastic jacket comes to the rescue and he mumbles at them and they all collapse. Nice.Production values are high for this one. It must have cost at least a hundred dollars to make. Nice. Seagal really pulled out all the stops here( and all the jackets) and I recommend it as his finest work.
j-p-walsh As with all of you writing here, I'm in dismay at what I've just seen. I have worked in television for a long time, and now teach on a Media course. As such I am well used to the many cheats we have to do to improve any project, be it in adding SFX (sound effects) ADR (additional dialogue recording) or Gating (taking out unwanted sound (wind noise, traffic etc) during pauses while no-one is speaking. In fact I even tell my students that television (and film for that matter) is all about cheating: Making people believe the unbelievable.BUT this has to be the worst example of my trade I have ever witnessed. As someone already mentioned previously, I too replayed the beginning several times, because I figured that there must have been some problem with my recording. The lip sync and dubbing (not the same as straightforward ADR) was diabolical to the point of comical. And it doesn't seem to get much better throughout the whole movie. Surely even the guys responsible must have thought at the time, that this was a bad joke to play on their potential audience! The same thing also occurs with the lovely agent Tia too. Especially when she is on the phone to her baddie boss. It's as though she must have thought that her lines were just so crap that she got someone else to say them for her! Truly dreadful on every level.Oh dear, oh dear.John Walsh, TV Studio Manager, Media Arts Department, Royal Holloway University
