VeteranLight I don't have all the words right now but this film is a work of art.
Contentar Best movie of this year hands down!
Matrixiole Simple and well acted, it has tension enough to knot the stomach.
CrawlerChunky In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.
jonahcybarra-82318 Horror is simultaneously both the most overused and most underappreciated film genre. Horror is easy to make, it is cheap to make, and yet it is often done wrong and does a disservice to the genre as a whole. Annabelle toes that line but has a few specific scenes that help to carry it past other, forgettable horror films. One such scene is when the wife and mother in the movie Mia, played by Annabelle (Ironic) Wallis is dropping off boxes in her family's apartment's storage attic. The demon in the film, referred to as The Ram, appears and chases Mia into the elevator. Now this scene would normally be rather easy to write off, except that the elevator doesn't go down and opens up to the same storage attic again and again until she runs for an exit door. This film utilized both lighting, or lack thereof, and the purposeful use of a shaky camera to its advantage, building the tension and horror rather well. That being said, however, the acting wasn't the best, the story was quite predictable, and at times the film relied too heavily upon jump scares to keep the audience interested. All-in-all a decent film that gives its audience what they're looking for, a good scare.
songbirdmc Annabelle just doesn't scare me. Yes, the doll is creepy looking, but not enough, and it doesn't go beyond just the somewhat creepy looking doll. I don't have much to say other than this really isn't a scary movie. There are somewhat scary moments. There's one moment in particular that scared me, BUT that was about 5 seconds out of the whole film. This movie relies heavily on cheap jump scares so if that's not your thing keep that in mind.
gingersnap0974 The movie may have gotten harsh reviews because it doesn't meet the conjuring standard, however, it is not awful at all. The movie starts slow sure. The second half of the movie picks up and did scare me. The ending is also intriguing and horrifying and I liked it. I didn't like how they say the doll became to be possessed and there could have been a better story there. With that said its still worth your time.
vishnu-dileep08 This movie is the prequel to the conjuring. The story of the doll how did it become the famous Annabelle we all know now.It started good those scary scenes were hitting the right notes then I felt they tried to make it extremely scary but turned out to be funny. There were some scenes which made me realize that this movie is being rushed just to make up something for the viewers. This movie made the conjuring doll a joke. I felt the leading actress did a really bad job as she literally had no fear on her face. The ending was so dumb they tried to make it unpredictable but utter rubbish. If you have watched the trailer of this movie then u have watched the whole movie cause those are the scary elements you have to see in the whole movie. They did a pretty good job in making a really good trailer and forcing us into the theaters to send us back home disappointed. No I would not recommend this movie to anyone.Notable ActingNobodyMy Rating 5/10
