Karry Best movie of this year hands down!
Humaira Grant It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.
Bob This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.
Dana An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
maria-ricci-1983 I will be brief, as there are splendid reviews already in this forum. This is high quality, smart political comedy, including all kinds of smiles and laughs available to human response. It is political incorrectness validated as the political norm. The script, the direction and general tone, the cast, the actors, the fast paced dialogues full of wit. Please do watch it and enjoy this show which gets better as the seasons go by.Julia Louis-Dreyfus is AMAZING, she makes you love such an atrocious character with a shameless array of self-assumed faults and horrible traits--- which happens to be the President of US, and always manages to stay afloat despite her overt skill to make all the wrong decisions and fail at every move. But the cast is second to none. Every single member of the team excels and is a gem. It's a terrific-characters parade! You cannot stop laughing, sighing, raising your eyebrows in amazement. My congratulations to the wonderful Selina and to Armando Ianucci. I had my doubts about the American simile to The Thick of It, but I have to admit they both made a masterpiece here!
NotMoreMovies First off the cast is terrific, and I wanted to like this show, I really did. The plots just...how should put this...stink (aka s--k).I love Julia, I really do, she spews that crap those writers give her very well, but to be metaphorical...when I watch this show, it's like question marks are circling my head. I just can't "get into it." I'm like the only guy in the room who doesn't laugh at a bad joke...it's like watching Bob Saget do stand-up.I showed it to family members of mine when we got a free HBO preview just to make sure it wasn't me. They all said the same thing -- basically, "What the heck is this?" This leaves me with one question -- why do so many critics like this show? I don't know, I've given up trying to figure out their motives.
zafar142007 Veep is a delightful sitcom. I started watching it mainly because of Dreyfus, but it has since then developed its own engaging repertoire. The characters are funny, and even without the crutch of hilarious happenings, they make us laugh. I like the way the show pokes fun at the hard-nosed politician without becoming tardy. The relationships the Veep shares with her associates are the key focus of the mirth. I would have wanted more screen-space for Hugh Laurie in the later seasons as he seems under-utilized. Jonah Ryan could have been the breakout character like Barney Stinson, but it seems he has become the Joey Tribbiani of this show. Some characters like Amy--though acted well-- suffer from under-development. Overall, a good comedy show which has maintained its quality throughout its run.
i-markovic99 Having not see Julia L. D. in anything since Seinfeld I must say this was a perfect role for her; growing up a billionaire she probably dealt with "these type of people" quite often and it has prepared her well to be one of them-at least act as if she was. But the reason I really enjoy Veep is for its atypical comedic direction. Leaving behind traditional (punchline, joke, pause, audience laughs), Veep simply embellishes-not by much either!- the "shady" world of politics. The common traits of politicians, usually beyond the view of voters, are brought out in this show; the arrogance, the scapegoating, the abuse of power, deceit, backstabbing, pandering to the lowest common denominator, family neglect and recent addition of Hugh Laurie (Dr. House) makes this show a marvel of comedy. If you are looking for a few cheap laughs and toilet jokes, this is probably not for you. This show is very witty, think Stephen Colbert (it would amazing if he made an appearance). The reality of today's politics is not far off from this show, one is to think if we filmed all politicians being themselves, saying whats really on their minds, we would get Veep.
