Synopsis

Follow the adventures and misadventures of Penny, a 14-year-old African American girl who's doing her best to navigate through the early years of teen-dom. Penny's every encounter inevitably spirals into bigger than life situations filled with hi-jinks, hilarity and heart. Her quest to balance her home, school and social lives are further complicated by friends like the sassy Dijonay, Penny's nemesis LaCienega Boulevardez, her loving, if not over-protective parents and her hip-to-the-groove-granny, Suga Mama.

Evengyny Thanks for the memories!
Vashirdfel Simply A Masterpiece
ThedevilChoose When a movie has you begging for it to end not even half way through it's pure crap. We've all seen this movie and this characters millions of times, nothing new in it. Don't waste your time.
Kinley This movie feels like it was made purely to piss off people who want good shows
Prodigy Madision I am a 17 year old black girl from Columbus, Ohio and all I have to say is all of you who are speaking negatively about this show need to take a SERIOUS CHILL PILL. Like seriously. As a kid, I loved the show and the "negative stereotypes that were going to completely ruin the way our youth would interact with one another" haven't affected me one way or another. Honestly, I grew up in an inner-city school meaning I had friends from all different backgrounds. The show didn't at all affect the way we interacted and even looking back now we can reminisce on good memories of watching the show and how funny it was. The characters were obviously overly stereotyped for HUMOR, not to be perfect role models or representatives for different groups people. Laugh a little and stop being so serious and analytical of this show.. Now if you REALLY want a show that should have never been made take a look at Gravity Falls.... *cough cough* illuminati... anti-Christ...evil spirits... Seriously, Open your eyes and Move your neck a little...
the_moody_youngest I hate this show. It's annoying, arrogant, racist, and totally stupid. The only reason why they kept it on so long is because Bruce W. Smith is arrogant and he thought he was doing a good job. It is unrealistic and has irritating characters!Penny is annoying and a total brat. Dijonay is SUPER annoying and is an idiot. Zoey is dumb and has an annoying voice. I can't stand Trudy for every reason. Oscar annoys me. LaCieniga is a spoiled bratty ho that needs to shut the heck up. An everyone else D-U-M-B!Oh and Suga Mama, UGH! This show shouldn't have stayed on this long because it was EXTREMELY STUPID! I give it a 1/10, I hate it and it Bruce W. Smith needs to get a life!
dionne595 Sweetheart,NO ONE stuck a gun to your head to make you watch The Proud Family. That's why there are hundreds of other channels you can be watching. The Disney channel was geared towards kids and families who try to steer clear from the "skankiness" of sex TV and the violence. I do NOT like anime, for two reasons 1)there's no black characters on and if it was, most likely the black women would be portrayed as "ho's" and overweight "bitches" and the black men as "drug dealers" or "criminals" 2)That anime crap has way TOO much violence, case in point this anime that comes on the Adult Swim on the Cartoon Network about this boy with a golden bat who goes around beating the S*** out of every innocent person. YOU call that worth watching?!! Sweetheart, GET A LIFE and a JOB!!! and stop being a slacker, the 90's are over!!
nolanjwerner This show is like every African-American stereotype rolled in to one offensive digestible quantity. The dialogue is more laden with slang then Trainspotting (the book not the movie) and this is...Well, it reminds me of a minstrel show, I am just waiting for the episode where they reveal it to be exactly that. I love Recess and Fillmore and a lot of Disney cartoons but this one is just terrible.Yeah, and a couple years later and I still feel the same way. And my African-American roommate says the exact same thing so I feel somewhat vindicated. He even actually tried to contact the NAACP about the show. And to be honest, on top of all the stereotypes, the show itself is really pretty bad.
