Forumrxes Yo, there's no way for me to review this film without saying, take your *insert ethnicity + "ass" here* to see this film, like now. You have to see it in order to know what you're really messing with.
FirstWitch A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.
Philippa All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
nancyminsey Season one was great and Season two even better. So many plot twists and turns. Great character development. A must see!
plexonics The twists turns and spiraling plot lines of The Missing are magnificent. Season 1 and James Nesbitt pull you along a path of investigation to find missing child Oliver. James Nesbitt mesmerizes as the father of the kidnapped Oliver. Tchéky Karyo is the relentless police detective that cannot draw a restful breath until he solves the mystery of the missing child. Frances OConnor and Jason Flemying Sround out the great cast. Season 1 wraps up with a question rather than an answer. Season 2 opens with Tchéky Karyo coming out of retirement to search for the two missing girls. David Moressy, Keeley Hawes, Laura Fraser, and the always brilliant Roger Allam are perfect in their parts. Characters locked in their worlds of deceit, anger, and confusion. One of the best dramas I have seen in a long time. Why are the British so good at this genre? I can't answer that, but I can answer "What is the Missing?" is "It is brilliant!"On a political side note, there are many scenes of excellent EU State sponsored health care that made me jealous!
mail-2583 There are so many great series right now (and over the past 5 years or so) on television. But I'd easily put this in my top 5 favorites. The acting is great and the writing is superb. Being involved in television production and also making my own content in my free time, also leaves me with a great deal of appreciation for how much skilled work went into all aspects of this show. The level of expertise and effort evident in the cinematography, planning, casting, and (most importantly) the editing, leaves the viewer with an experience more akin to a VERY long feature-length film. It's a great heart-wrenching journey. But be WARNED!! You must be a patient viewer to enjoy this program. If you don't care for slow-moving plot-lines, DO NOT WATCH THIS SHOW!SPOILERS - SPOILERS - SPOILERSI loved the way the first season ended. I enjoy abrupt endings that leave it to the viewer to imagine what happens after that. Falling action and extreme closure are something I do not need to enjoy a story. So, I'm sorry if you are like my wife and hated the ambiguous ending to the first season. My take on it was that Tony Hughes found his boy. Something we're not privy to, led him to that community. There was the crude drawing on the window condensation. And that boy easily looks like his son would. So, even if Tony is taken away and put in a mental ward, he knows that his son is alive and seems well taken care of. At this point in his terrible life, I think that knowledge alone would leave him fully content for his remaining days. Now, the second season is another story. Complete closure this season save for the results of the surgery. And, all things considered, as happy of an ending as one could expect. But as much as I like season one's ambiguous ending, that kind of closure never bothers me if it's done right. In closing, I feel that season 1 is better than season 2 in the most critical ways. The story is just better. Season 2 does have better production values and closure. Plus it is still very entertaining. But I did not feel quite as connected to the characters and the suffering they were experiencing.
davidberry-60933 The acting is decent, for which this series gets the one star awarded. The story telling starts out slow, but bearable, then it gets slower and slower, until it becomes stationary and the viewer decides that because of the four to five hours already invested they just have to push though the pain barrier to find out what happens in the end! I'm a viewer who has been there, suffered the pain and by the end of episode 8 wished he had just amputated his legs at episode two to get away from this dreadful piece of story telling.Best thing to do with this drama is stay away from it, don't let it suck you in via episode one, you will hate that you wasted 8 hours of your life by the end of this total garbage story telling.I'm not going anywhere near season 2 of this junk out of fear I will fall into the same trap again.
