Fairaher The film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.
Kurasu This series was pathetic. It had bad acting, overworked special effects and wimpy bad guys. As a fan of the original film, I found the series as a boring watered down version of an excellent story. In the film, not only did Brandon Lee kill people, he looked as if he could, whereas this wannabe Mark Dacascus looks as if he couldn't punch his way out of a paper bag.Anyway, if you want action go and see the Brandon lee version, as Stairway to Heaven is more of a soap opera. As I said, the series is simply watered down, and it just contains scenes from the original movie, but has cut out some of the interesting characters and the more energetic fights and trash talking. but if you'd rather not think too much then hey, why not watch Stairway to Heaven. Really though, its just too soppy for me. In the Crow, both movie and comic, Eric Draven was a tortured, vicious individual who wanted to tear apart the people who had ruined his life/death. But Mark Dacascus' character is content to simply scare them into being better people. That really doesn't cut it for me. If someone had brutally murdered you and your fiancé, wouldn't you be walking around in the red haze? I think you would, and I know I would too. I think that maybe this series was targeted at a younger audience which would warrant the toned down violence, less objectionable drugs and less gruesome weaponry. But really they were the things that made the movies as dark and confronting as they were. Oh well. I suppose you can't win 'em all.
TheDeaderman Personally, from the fact that they "borrowed" Eric Draven spells disaster in my eyes. With the pilot being a b grade copy of the movie, it left a bad taste in my mouth for the rest of the series. Mark couldn't win me over with his portrayal, especially with his outfit inspired from the movie that I thought looked horrible, specifically the coat. As I have mentioned before in a review elsewhere, the only good things to come out of this that it showcased the moments for Eric and Shelly that possibly could have happened before their deaths and that Katie Stuart and Mark have had quite a few good roles since then:X2(for Katie) and Brotherhood Of The Wolf/Cradle 2 The Grave(for Mark). The only way this concept will ever work again is with a fresh new character, on HBO. One piece of Trivia:The actors who played Skull Cowboy,Top Dollar and Eric Draven were all in "Drive" before this show.
michaelsibley416 "Crow: Stairway to Heaven" was one of the best television shows I have seen on television. With his role in this television series, Mark Dacascos, a young and refreshing actor, proved he was not just an action star who survives by starring in no story action films.Dacascos branches outside of what he is used to in order to play a reincarnated soul of dead man brought back by a crow in order to set things right after his girlfriend is killed. The ongoing battle of good vs. evil continues as Eric Draven is brought back to life to set things right.Dacascos is great in the television version of the film that would turn out to be Brandon Lee's last. I couldn't wait for each week to come because it was a unique series in which the writers came up with great new stuff to write about for each episode. I enjoyed how the series went back and forth between the current world and the way it was when Eric Draven and his girlfriend Shelly lived in happier times.Everything about this show from, storylines, music, and setting scream HIT!!!!! From Mark Dacascos to the supporting cast which includes the police detective whom he helps out by catching criminals; this series deserved to be seen.
jalenn The show takes the storyline of the first movie but has Eric remain "alive" in the interests of putting other wrongs right and helping those who cannot help themselves. Cheesy at times but Mark Dacascos' superior physical ability and charisma save the show. I suspect it would have been easy to have focused a great deal on the action part of Eric's character but Dacascos does a great job of giving Eric Draven emotional depth. The three regulars (Gomes, Stuart and Dacascos) have good chemistry and play well off each other. Eric's brief scenes with Shelley stay true to the idea of theirs being a great love, giving the show a good balance of action and romance. It's unfortunate that the show was ended so abruptly; a made-for-tv movie or straight to video release that resolved the issues brought up in the cliffhanger finale to the first season would be appreciated by many fans of the shortlived series.
