Iseerphia All that we are seeing on the screen is happening with real people, real action sequences in the background, forcing the eye to watch as if we were there.
webberrules Kingdom Hearts and Sonic X. What do those two titles have in common? They both have very annoying and unlikable main protagonists who are original characters to their respective titles with already established characters for the sake of brand recognition and product placement. For example, Kingdom Hearts has our beloved characters from Walt Disney Animation Studios feature films with Sora, a character I hate with a passion. But that is besides the point. This review is about Sonic X, which is very similar to Kingdom Hearts, only difference being it is a series in television series form than video game.The Bad: 1. Christopher Thorndyke, the main protagonist, is a very unlikable and annoying character. What is even worse is the double standard of finding Sora from Kingdom Hearts likable, but not Chris Thorndyke. As a matter of fact, I really hate original characters made specifically for a certain title also featuring already established characters, and no, I do not mean sequels. Kingdom Hearts and Sonic X are two examples. 2. Another double standard that is finding the stories in Sonic X bad and the ones in Kingdom Hearts good, where both have the exact same concept! They both rehash stories from Sonic the Hedgehog games and Walt Disney Animation Studios movies, as well as creating pointless continuity inconsistencies to the already established characters with "fresh" stories. 3. Cosmo is not very likable either. What Cosmo, Chris Thorndyke and Sonic the Hedgehog characters are to Sonic X are exactly like Final Fantasy characters, Sora, and Disney characters are to Kingdom Hearts. Crossovers like that are pointless and create unnecessary confusion with continuity inconsistencies.The Mixed: 1. One of the biggest problems with Sonic the Hedgehog is the franchise's inconsistency with national identity, so when it comes to the voice acting, courtesy of Junichi Kanemaru, Ryo Hirohashi, Nobutoshi Kanna, Sayaka Aoki, Taeko Kawata, Sanae Kobayashi and Chikao Otsuka, it is really hard to tell whether it is good or bad, because international dubs are bad because they are nationalising a lot of elements in a foreign- language film or television series, even a simple translation is a nationalisation. Another reason why it is hard to tell whether the voice acting is good or bad is the sound of the voices from the characters, so overall, I am in the middle about the voice acting. It is neither good nor bad.The Good: 1. One of the few things I like about Sonic X is the original music composed by Yoshihiro Ike. I do not enjoy it as Sonic music, I enjoy it as music standing on its own merits. 2. The animation is aesthetically speaking, beautiful. The environments really look like a place I would want to explore.I know I have been comparing this television series to Kingdom Hearts, but that is how I honestly feel about Sonic X, as well as the best way to describe this series.Note: This review is based on the original Japanese with English subtitles.
dokkelly-120-943270 This is the worst sonic show.sure the first episode was awesome but after that don't even bother.I mean it's obviously a complete rip-off of E.T,but it's not just that.The human characters are mind-numbingly boring especially Chris.I swear he has no personality,not to mention he's a completely unlikeable character too and another thing.Poor Sonic looks bored out of his hedgehog brains,I mean why do you think he always sleeps in this show.Because he has nothing better to do,might as well take a nap or 5.You'd think that be bad enough,but no it gets worst.After they complete the first two seasons they then completely rip off Star Trek.why?also the animation at points is really choppy,like a character could look cool in one shot but in the next look like it's melted,so basically it is a really lame show,if you want to see at least a descent Sonic show try Sonic SatAM.Aside from that do yourself a favor and skip this one
TheLittleSongbird I haven't played the games for a while, but I do remember them being fun, exciting and just great in general. I will say I am a huge fan of Sonic the Hedgehog SatAM, it was very well animated, well written and the stories were always done in a unique, faithful and mature way. Plus you have Jim Cummings as Dr Robotnik, he was amazing as always. However, I was really disappointed in Sonic X.It started off brilliantly, with a wonderful first couple of episodes, good music with exception of the theme tune and a great concept, and then it all went downhill just like that.My first major problem with Sonic X is that the characters are not well-developed. That is with the exception of Chris, but the thing is there is too much of him, and not enough of Sonic and everyone else. Sonic in the SatAM series had a personality, and a unique one at that, but that personality doesn't come across here. And later Chris gets really annoying and obnoxious. Secondly, the animation quality is uneven, in the first episode it was fine, but as the series progressed it became jerky, rushed and lacking in crispness and vibrancy. Thirdly, the story lines are not as well thought out or as gripping, some of the episodes here are poorly structured and even have major contradictions to the games. Fourthly, while I liked the incidental music, the theme tune I did not like, I for one didn't find it catchy or memorable and later it even got annoying. Fifthly, the writing lacks intelligence and verve, the villain Dr.Eggman(or shall I say Dr Robotnik) especially has some lame dialogue that didn't make sense. Finally, I didn't find the English dub voice work that great, the actors try their best with superficial material but with the characters so underdeveloped nobody stands out.Overall, disappointing, started off great, but as the show progressed the flaws became increasingly abundant. 3/10 Bethany Cox
mariomurderer111-1 I am a very big fan of Sonic the hedgehog and I liked the new sonic x series a lot when it came out. I didn't care about the voice acting, I didn't care about the "cheesiness", all I cared about was that "It's Sonic." I didn't take this anime dub seriously though I do know that 4kids changed a lot of stuff (especially in the final episode of season 3) for censoring. I never actually got around to see most of the 3rd series but the first and second series were very good! hey, the show's for kids anyway. When the voice acting changed I didn't seem to notice at first, until fans on the internet started complaining. But I actually liked some of the 4kids sonic voice acting. I think that the 4kids voice actors are improving, especially in the games. The Sonic X series is mainly based on for kids anyway. [4Kids...gettit? :P}
