NekoHomey Purely Joyful Movie!
Voxitype Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.
Jakoba True to its essence, the characters remain on the same line and manage to entertain the viewer, each highlighting their own distinctive qualities or touches.
Haven Kaycee It is encouraging that the film ends so strongly.Otherwise, it wouldn't have been a particularly memorable film
Anders L The first 2 episodes of season 1 was a pain, i was on the verge of abandoning it halfway into episode 2 but something kept me watching and im glad that I gave it a second chance.Halfway into season 1 the series made a significant change to the better and now I cant stop watching it. Eventho the story for the most parts is a bit thin and simple, but this is not necessary a bad thing imo, because it lets the actors a chance to blossom. The first thing that strikes the viewer is the obvious gender stereotypes being put on display by the main actors appearances and their lines, but Tia Carrere's character sydney fox is an icon representative of the women rights movement, strong, independent and ready to fight back.
tatsu2050 I watch a lot of TV shows and a show doesn't have to have a gigantic budget to keep me entertained. If it's witty, charming and has likable characters you don't mind cheap sets and more often than not bad actors around the main characters. I really like Tia Carrere in this show and... well that's almost about it.In everything I read about Relic Hunter before watching it myself the figures Indiana Jones and Lara Croft were brought up. Let me put it in few and simple words where the similarities lie: * Indiana Jones is a university professor -> Sydney Fox is, too * Indiana Jones looks for relics -> Sydney Fox does, too * Lara Croft got martial arts skills -> Sydney Fox does, tooNow let's take a look at the differences: * Indy Jones is a really intelligent man who knows very much and has to figure out intriguing riddles -> Sydney Fox never gives the impression she is a top professor with a vast knowledge about what she does. When she solves a riddle its more like putting a puzzle together than using a lot of wit. * Lara Croft is just completely kick-ass in everything she does -> Sydney Fox shows some vulnerability here and there (not a bad thing in general), and being kick-ass mostly focuses on the fight scenes. In most shows there is the concept of the hero of the show and the comic relief sidekick. In this case the sidekick would be Nigel, nerdy teaching assistant from England with his slightly distinguished British accent and manner. This would be a good mix if the Sydney character was actually really knowledgeable and kick-ass and the sidekick really nerdy and funny. Thing is they're both just not all that extreme in their ways so you sometimes wonder who plays who's part. The one thing that is really above average about this show are the fight scenes. Those are well executed and pretty often have some slapstick element to them that is actually funny. And Tia Carrere is really good in her role. I'm not a fanboy but have to say, if it wasn't for her charisma I wouldn't have gotten past the first episode.I give this show a 5/10 because of Tia, the fight scenes and the general concept of the show.
lara_5ok I have seen relic hunter for about 10 times and i like it more every time i see it. I love the character of sydney and I surely do like nigel's. I regret the fact that lindy booth couldn't go till the end with her role, cause claudia was the funnyest character. i hope you'll get to see this TV series as many times as i did, and you'll surely fall in love with it, as i did. well good bye and "catch relic hunter", as tia wrote in an autograph once. I'm pretty sure that no one who has seen at least one episode didn't want to see the next too, so...what can i say...watch at least the first one, and the other ones will come themselves. what a coincidence, cause today is an episode from the 3rd series and i may miss it if i stay longer to write to you. have fun and don't forget to watch relic hunter
aviolet The one outstanding huge flaw of 'Relic Hunter' is that the plot of every episode is pretty much exactly the same. It bores everyone to tears! Don't get me wrong, Tia is an exceptional actress, and the fact that she could carry this show on for so long attests to that. The other actors also put in some fine performances, but I cringe and deeply pity that they are trapped by the formula which every episode runs on. Now if you don't want to know the formula, don't read on: basically someone from Sydney's past comes to visit her, a relic needs to be found, usually it needs to be kept from said visitor, they go to a foreign country, place something in a key-hole, turn the key, or press a button and rescue the relic, then the villain steals the relic from Syd and Nigel, then she gets it back by beating them up with a judo-like fighting style. Ho-hum, I must have fallen asleep.
