Curapedi I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.
Fleur Actress is magnificent and exudes a hypnotic screen presence in this affecting drama.
simonbmorse-968-798591 ALERT-Unless I missed something, this show has crossed the line with an episode about bestiality and the main character also has sex with his best friend's wife. This was supposed to be a comedy, not trash. It started out as a funny, well-acted,series but degenerated into what was shown on the latest episode, April 4, 2014. What possessed FOX and Greg Kinnear to air something with this subject matter? This is unforgivable and will taint my opinion of Kinnear forever. My understanding is that the series is on the bubble, now deservedly so. It will take its place as one of the monumental mistakes in all of television. The country should not have to be subjected to such trash from one of the four major broadcast networks. It really doesn't belong on cable networks either.
lisa-762-323451 I love this show .. it grows on you ..... Keegan Deane is a complicated guy with a lot of loose ended relationships ... it seems. I'm still catching on to the characters and what's happening. Greg Kinnear is utterly charming, annoying, but charming. That's not easy to portray. The strong women around him make his failings more obvious. The women actually steal the show. The prosecutor on last night's show was a riot. Portrayed by Bess Armstrong. I thought her lines were some of the best given to a female attorney in a show ever.I take issue with one reviewer's complaint about Greta Van Susteren "product placement." The reviewer says Greta's show is about made-up scandals because people don't like the president being black. Wake up. He's gotten elected twice. "The people" have no problem with him being black. FoxNews, conservatives, et al, don't like his POLICIES. So drop the "black problem." We're so far beyond that in 2014, just drop it already. It's the lamest argument ever. Further, Keegan is exactly the kind of guy who would want to be a pundit on a show like Greta's, that's the point, and that's why it's funny.
leo-rigo Unfortunately i have to agree with all the other comments (or at least the majority of them) that clearly have seen the original Aussie version. The US version missed the entire spirit of the main character and most of all the wit. The dialogs in the US version are dull, repetitive and the storyline closer to a mid level drama than the Aussie version. I think the original is so well written, acted that is definitely the best ABC show produced in a long long time, hence very difficult to copy or remake. I don't honestly understand why they didn't decide to screen the original in the US like they did with Chris Lilley's series. If you want to see the REAL Rake, just watch the Aussie version, it's pure genius.
jzabel-233-548810 Terrible. I really like Greg Kinnear. It seems that he should be exactly the right fit for this role. He is not. I saw 2 episodes and then made the horrible mistake of watching the Australian version. So much about what the show should have been or was trying to be was made clear. I can't believe how different the two shows are. I sincerely hope that the American version is cancelled. Don't bother with this one - find a DVD of the original. I agree with other posters- why can't we just show the Australian version on our TV, or better yet, just create a different show that actually has some merit. I understand why US TV doesn't want to portray a gambling, coke snorting, prostitute loving, adulterous criminal attorney as an antihero. Or the pedophiliac relationship between the AU son and his french teacher. But the alternative they've come up with is unappetizing in every aspect. Why do networks continue to pander to the lowest common denominator? I would like to see an adult TV show. In fact there are a couple I quite like on TV right now. I am sure they wull be cancelled soon.
