Synopsis

In Living Color is an American sketch comedy television series that originally ran on the Fox Network from April 15, 1990, to May 19, 1994. Brothers Keenen and Damon Wayans created, wrote and starred in the program. The show was produced by Ivory Way Productions in association with 20th Century Fox Television and was taped before a live studio audience at stage 7 at the Fox Television Center on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, California. The title of the series was inspired by the NBC announcement of broadcasts being presented "in living color" during the 1950s and 1960s, prior to mainstream color television. It also refers to the fact that most of the show's cast were black, unlike other sketch comedy shows such as Saturday Night Live whose casts are usually mostly white. Other members of the Wayans family—Kim, Shawn and Marlon—had regular roles, while brother Dwayne frequently appeared as an extra. The show also starred the previously unknown actor/comedians Jim Carrey, Jamie Foxx, and David Alan Grier. Additionally, actress Rosie Perez, Dancing with the Stars judge and choreographer Carrie Ann Inaba and dancer Jennifer Lopez were members of the show's dance troupe The Fly Girls. The series won the Emmy for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series in 1990.

Reviews

Stevecorp Don't listen to the negative reviews
Chirphymium It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional
Nayan Gough A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.
Kirandeep Yoder The joyful confection is coated in a sparkly gloss, bright enough to gleam from the darkest, most cynical corners.
lazygirl062 First I want to say that I love In Living Color.I have watched almost all of there seasons and have laughed to every episodes. One of my favorite show was when they showed the bloopers and Jamie Foxx pulled down Tommy Davidson underwear. I love everyones characters.I watch it ever night when it comes on? I think all the character are so funny especially Damon and David characters. Just by watching the bloopers you could tell that they have great chemistry. I was wondering why everyone had beef with Jamie Foxx? I want to know when does Marlon Wayans appear in "In Living Color"? When did Kennan leave In Living Color and what was the reason? Do you know if In Living Color has a Season Five.
rabid_halfling You know bad comedy is like bad fish, you die screaming on the toilet.. and this is where "In Living Colour" comes in.. Sure it was fun when it first started, but now that none of them have careers anymore, other than Jim Carrey, tho his past few movies rotted. The jokes are timely for the early 90's, sadly most people want to forget them .. i do.. Anyhoo, if i want good black comedy.. I will watch the chapelle show.. 1990: 8/10 2005: 3/10Sadily the only thing I remember of it is his fire Marshall character.. Sad sad are the days of this show's life. I dunno what else to say. yup i am a playa hater..LOL
bbSouthstreet I just got the DVD on this just thinking that this was going be the young Jim Carrey show. I got much more than that, I got much much more. Next to Mad TV, In Living Color is one of the best comedy skits shows in the world and Jim Carrey's antics are to die for. Like his Ted Turner impression and his karate instructor skit was so funny I thought my ribs would break. Not to mention the crazy antics of Tommy Davidson, Keenon Ivory Wayans, Kim Wayans and the rest of the colorful cast. This is a great show and I would suggest this to anyone who needs a good laugh.*** 1/2 out of ****
otisa `In Living Color' is a classic. Not only did it catapult several comics into stardom... i.e. Jim Carry and several of the Wayans brothers, it also shared black humor with the world. It served it up raw and real. The cultural taboos of society were dissected, ridiculed and sarcastically played out without any reservations. We laughed at the rich, poor, handicapped, gays, men, women, children, religions, social injustices and politics. Nothing was sacred and that's the way we liked it, on the fly and honest. If you're looking for adult humor that is a not stereotypical, `In Living Color' may well fit the bill. If imitation is truly the best form of flattery, today's SNL and Mad TV using comedic story lines and even characters made famous from `In Living Color' is proof. However, I believe there is nothing like an original
