Linbeymusol Wonderful character development!
Evengyny Thanks for the memories!
Ensofter Overrated and overhyped
Odelecol Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.
jpCharm Reminiscent of old BBC teleplays but lacking in the substance they possess.
hamidullahgenc Above all, we can start by saying that we had this tasteful cast, and modest set as well as a simple / daily story for the show of our lives however differently we may live!.. Okay, not everyone shares the same background with the characters nor with Louis C.K. who created and nurtured this mini-show, but there is something that touches your bare soul. Not that it has to have all / any answers to this mystery we call life, but because we are all just as lost as the characters on this show. No, not all of us stays lost until the last breath, but all of us at some point felt / was lost just like Horace, Pete, Sylvia or many more in this story...It does not matter if we were swallowed and enthralled (or not) by alcoholic drinks, wrongful acts inviting the laziness, aimlessness, harshness and ruthlessness. After all, we may, now or in the future, be very religious or ethical for that matter, leading a beneficial life both for ourselves and the universe. However, we are human beings, and we have problems and urges that need to be reflected in however realistic a way it may be!So, we love(d), too, to talk on Politics, to hate our neighbor, to go out with friends, to love a decent woman / man, oh, to be, of course, a troubled kid to go through life and figure all out!..At the end, we can safely tell that Louis C.K. did a really good job pointing out shadows that are really of life.Wait! We cannot finish without praising the brilliant actors and actresses one by one! Oh, we cannot celebrate all here!.. Let's honor four of them here! Thank you, Alan Alda! Thank you, Edie Falco!.. Thank you, Jessica Lange! Thank you, Steve Buscemi! You were all great!..Last to mention, there is a hard ending that awaits... Wow!.. We followed a perfectly simulated life up until our eyes misted over or even dropped tears!.. I hate you, Louis C.K. (No, I don't. I praise you!)Last but not least, Louis C. K. does not necessarily show violence no more than the content needs it. And this is particularly important for many shows reveal intolerable graphic and linguistic violence to the fullest!.. Bravo to you, Mr. C. K.!I give the show a "9,1". Yep!"Know that the life of the world is only play, and idle talk, and pageantry, and boasting among you, and rivalry in respect of wealth and children; as the likeness of vegetation after rain, whereof the growth is pleasing to the husbandman, but afterward it drieth up and thou seest it turning yellow, then it becometh straw. And in world to come there is grievous punishment, and (also) forgiveness from Allah and His good pleasure, whereas the life of the world is but matter of illusion."The Gracious Koran: 57; 20.
emccollu I had no idea what this was when I went to watch it. I thought it would be comedy, almost the whole cast could make for a funny bar sitcom, but it was clearly not that. I was hooked by the time I realized it though. It's like if Ernest Hemingway and Charles Bukowski wrote a play. The stories and the conversations stuck to me, I kept thinking about them while listening to my neighbors argue about whats racist and how meaningless voting is. I read about it online, that it was a web series and it didn't do great and was only released on Louis CK's main website. I would hope he continues making shows, but for a streaming site instead.
wachberg it is the best piece of original American culture i have come across in a very long time. it is fantastically written and stunningly executed. all in very reduced style; fresh, unexpected, taking dramatic twists. one episode starts with a twelve minute, stationary camera shot of a woman above sixty and your eyes are glued to the screen. it reminded me of a monologue within Bergman's's 'persona', but for me even exceeds by being rougher and more reduced.Louis ck created a new streetcar named desire, yet while there is enough tragedy all over the script, humour lurks through from all angles. the material is so dense that you won't be bored watching it twice immediately. actually it helped me to see more of the funny little things Louis so elegantly spreads in between the drama.i like Louis ck as a comedian, but i now LOVE him as a serious actor and film maker. surprisingly enough this mini serious catapults him among the very best directors|actors in America. an amazing, amazing piece of art.
