Synopsis

Hillside (known as Fifteen in the United States) is a Canadian-American teen drama that aired on YTV in Canada from 1991 to 1993. Created and produced by John T. Binkley, the series was Nickelodeon's only teenage soap opera. The show was shot on videotape, similar to most daytime dramas. The series was first conceived as Fifteen in an improvised form for The Disney Channel, where a 13-episode pilot series was produced and tested in the U.S. After Disney decided not to proceed with the project, Nickelodeon and Canadian partners joined Binkley in producing the series which was known in its first and second seasons as Hillside in Canada, and throughout the 65-episode run as Fifteen in the U.S. The show was subsequently syndicated around the world, with runs in Germany and Israel, among others. The series features a large ensemble cast which underwent several changes over the show's four-season run. Notable cast members include Laura Harris, Enuka Okuma, and Ryan Reynolds.

SpuffyWeb Sadly Over-hyped
Tayyab Torres Strong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.
marksandig The continuing High School saga was a Sunday ritual until it's demise. Who can forget those Canadian accents in the 1st 2 seasons. The non-stop drama with future stars Ryan Reynolds & Laura Harris. It was nice that they used actual teenagers instead of the typical 20 something usuals that appear in teen shows and movies. Down the line there were great characters, Brooke the snob, Jake the loser, Dylan the rebel, Billy (Ryan reynolds) was a rebel wannabe but an OK kid, then he turned into a jerk. Arsemann was nice as was David. Even Chris turned out OK after befriending Russ when he found out Russ was very ill. How about when Chris fired Dylan from the band (teenagers In Love) and replaced him with Roxanne who was a horrible singer. Arsemann was actually a good singer, but quit when tensions rose. The band could only perform one song and what a great one it was..."well i'm too old to cry & too young to fly, but mama says be glad i'm young & don't ask why, because i'm 15, not old enough to be free"....long live Fifteen. Now we just need the DVD's to come out.
kelkel75 This show had the WORST acting and the worst scripts I've ever seen or heard.. I actually watched it once when I was a teen, but I couldn't sit through more than one episode(I think there was a marathon of the show on that day) I wonder how many people slit their wrists that day??? This show made "Saved by the Bell" and "Parker Lewis can't lose" seem realistic.. I hope I never find it on T.V again!
aktung this is easily one of the finest shows ever to hit the satelites of the world. I love the deep plots and the great sets. The acting was at great and Brook was hot hot hot!!!!! And she was the best character on the show except for the guy that got drunk all the time he was pretty cool too. Nick needs to bring this show back!!!!!!!
Gerald-O FIFTEEN is probably one of the worst shows I ever saw...but it was oh so fun to watch!!!! This 1991 Nickelodeon "teen soap opera" had welfare production values and the worst dialogue ever! But I couldn't help avoiding it! The high school itself had like 10 students in it. The cafeteria had like 3 tables and didn't serve hot lunch, for everyone had to bring it bagged. The lockers never really locked, for they swung back open. Oh..and the locker rooms..it was horribly obvious that that the boys locker room was the same room as the girls...with pink papers on the wall signifying femininity. Did this school have a school board? The characters in the show are so corny and ugly. No one was like friends with each other. They all bitched at each other and all the subplots are centered about what one kid "overheard" about that kid's drinking problem..I could go on and on ..anyway..this show ..which makes "Saved by the Bell" look like Jane Austen..as horrendous to watch as it is...is still a blast to watch because its so deliciously crappy!
