Solemplex To me, this movie is perfection.
StyleSk8r At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
Bob This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.
Logan By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
miebloodygirl Seriously my best friend recommend this to me about a week ago. She also recommended me Riverdale but I don't find riverdale intresting enough for me so I started watching Harper's Island. First episode left me thinking they're too dumb to notice, hence they'll always be "distractions" and many characters that appeared to be the suspect . The best part of the movie is the character's development . For instance, Shane, at first he's an asshole to everyone . But then he died to protect the girls so they could escape .He realized a lot of shit he's done wrong.I'm proud of him .Moreover, I missed Chloe and Carl, for me they're the best couple in the series. I cried like a bitch when Chloe jumped to be with Carl . Man I'm still crying . They were so sweet,he even proposed to her ,Carl saved sherriff's life. Man there's a lot more I'd like to say but this review would be long ass shit. Lastly ,I like how Jimmy stared at Trish when she was at the cliff ,like a damn suspect but well turned out the most cheerful guy is the killer! There's a quote that says "the man who smiles sweetly is always a pyscho" . I'd like to thanks my best friend for reccomending this series to me. I really enjoy watching it . =)
supermaggie I knew who the killer was from episode one. So much for "really entertaining/thrilling/you do not see it coming". I am just reviewing this because I thought Harper's Island was a big disappointment and expected everybody to see it this way, but it turns out many see it as a benchmark in thriller shows and so I had to throw in my opinion. No, not everybody sees it as a successful thriller show, and all the viewers bitching about other shows like American Gothic (2016) should be tolerant/ be aware that there are people out there who disagree, see it the other way round. I do not think that American Gothic (2016) is the greatest show (esp. with a psychopathic kid running around mutilating poor cats - put the damn kid to sleep or into a cell before it does worse!) but neither is Harper's Island. It is okay that both shows exist, but in my opinion Harper's Island is NOT the better one. Just wanted to give a different opinion.
bjarias At some point have to do a search for a body-count, it's gonna be way-way up there. After about eight episodes of this suspense-horror-drama, you start asking yourself how could they possibly keep this up for another five shows... there won't be anyone left standing. And once they begin to knock-off favorite characters, you then wonder who'll be next to go. It takes all the way near the end of a dozen episodes before the bolt out of nowhere hits. All in all, it's a pretty good show, and the cast performs well, with an odd exception or two. Elaine Cassidy anchors the ensemble group with an exceptionally fine performance.. bit.ly/19508pd .. And sure, the story's totally absurd, but pretty much has to be. Would have to imagine there's a huge following watching it over and over, not caring they know exactly what happens next. Once you by-in, Harper's Island produces a surprisingly good slasher-fest for horror aficionados. .. PS.. one site said it was 29 killed off during the 13 episodes... did seem like a lot more, right?
sss sss I found this surprisingly weak for its high IMDb score. From episode one it seemed to have a teen drama vibe to it. I assumed it came with the territory since the plot revolves around a young couple's wedding to be. But as the episodes progressed I still couldn't shake the feeling that the mystery and horror were just forced additions to a typical soap. There are wedding problems, couple problems, father and boyfriend troubles, problems with kids, not-so-comic-relief friends of the groom and so on, and THEN there's a splash of a slasher/mystery thriller. Since it is tagged as mystery/thriller, I expected it to be the other way around. The mystery plot line, sidetracked and underdeveloped as it is, doesn't seem very interesting at the beginning and doesn't get much more interesting to the very end. There is no real focus on it or tension.I couldn't really complain about production values, the show looks and sounds fine. Acting isn't atrocious but it isn't great either. I felt that casting was off though. Almost none of the characters seemed believable enough. Blatant lack of logic or realism throughout the second half of the show doesn't help.On the other hand, I think that the show could work fine as it is, as long as you expect it to be teen drama with a splash of mystery and gore. Perhaps then the casting (beautiful people all around) acting, pacing and focus on side stories would seem more appropriate. For a mystery thriller though I couldn't give it more than 4 out of 10.
