Synopsis

A fantasy comedy adventure series that melds live action comedians riffing on a stage in front of a live studio audience with animated forays into a fantasy adventure roleplaying game. The intrepid comedians, Dan Harmon, Jeff Davis, and Erin McGathy, along with a rotating special guest member, gather around a kitchen table and attempt to play the game and fail in hilarious fashion, to the chagrin of their adjudicator-referee- Game Master Spencer Crittenden.

andwarren I really do enjoy this show and it has left me unable to breathe from laughing at times, and so I have rated it very high. However, I am often frustrated by what I see as lost potential. The show starts very strong with a great guest star in the first episode who plays along well and is hilarious. However, many of the guest stars are either unfunny or not a good fit for this show (Chelsea Peretti, Aubry Plaza, Gillian Jacobs). They need to be more selective of guest stars. Spencer and Jeff are great regular cast members. Spencer particularly is hilarious and carries the show. Dan Harmon himself can be funny (even if most of his jokes are along the lines of "Oh sh**!") but he needs to prepare better. He often bumbles around and makes unfunny jokes that are just awkward. Erin McGathy is the biggest thing holding this show back. I could not believe it when I saw she was back in the second season. Not only is she not funny, she is completely unfunny. I usually cringe when she attempts to make a joke. Her only positive contributions are when she says or does something stupid that the others can make a good joke out of. To end on a positive note, the show is very creative and the production value is high. Very funny, but I hope that changes are made before season 3 (and I do hope there is a season 3).
Ryan Armishaw OMG - this is truly ridiculously funny! I am a 41 year old ex-D&D nerd, and this just made me giggle endlessly! It took me back to the sad (yet funny) days of sitting round a ping-pong table in my basement, and wasting entire weekends playing D&D. I'm not sure how non-D&D playing people will see it, but if you EVER played D&D, you will laugh your ass off.
gortex-overcoat If you like Rick and Morty I really think you will love this show. It is so funny and the witty improve jokes are so funny. Take a look at The Doorest of forest it is so funny. Highly recommend, it is a new take on dungeons and dragons allowing you to truly experience what we imagined while playing as kids. I really think this is a great show and the fact that it was renewed for season 2 should tell you enough. This review requires 10 lines of text apparently telling you that it is funny and worth at the least checking out one episode. Each episode has a different guest character and I really think it adds to the fun and the improve of the actors.
lnol-47300 If you like Drunk History, you will love HarmonQuest. Each episode is a chapter in Spencer's story of the binding rune stones. The game play is animated along with the dialog Spencer, Dan, Erin, Jeff, and the celebrity guest of the episode. Spencer does a great job as Game Master, he weaves a wonderful tale of ghosts, kobolds, and flying swords.Dan, Spencer, Erin, and Jeff are masterful players in Pathfinder. Adding hilarious dialog and actions to Spencer's world and quest, this group is one with great chemistry together and stay in character really well.
