Synopsis

Cassie Nightingale, Middleton’s favorite enchantress, and her young-teenage daughter Grace, who shares that same special intuition as her mom, welcome Dr. Sam Radford and his son to town. When the New York transplants move in next to the Grey House, they are immediately spellbound by the mother-daughter duo next door, but Sam and Cassie quickly find they may not see eye to eye. With her signature charm, Cassie attempts to bring everyone together, ensuring all of Middleton is in for new changes, big surprises and, of course, a little bit of magic! "Good Witch” is based on Bell’s beloved character Cassie, the raven-haired enchantress who kept audiences spellbound for seven installments of Hallmark Channel's longest-running and highest-rated original movie franchise of all time.

CommentsXp Best movie ever!
TrueHello Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
Erica Derrick By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
declanstark Okay, so I'll start with what I don't hate about this series. Bailee Madison as Grace (the daughter). Warm, bubbly, cute. Nothing wrong there. Catherine Disher as Mayor Martha Tinsdale. A bit campy, kind of fun, suits the (simultaneously flamboyant and flat) character pretty well. And of course..... no, wait, that's it. The first thing you'll notice about this "supernatural" soap is that, well, nothing supernatural happens. At all. Like, seriously. It tricked me like a cheap magician, I'll give it that. For the first three episodes I waited expectantly for the dull tedium of the characters' almost unbelievably sterile lives to be injected with a sudden flash of magic to break the monotony. No such luck. The closest you'll find to a spell in this show is the sleeping spell you'll startle yourself out of when you feel your chin hit your chest. Because in Hallmark Land, the only Good Witch is one who's not actually a witch. The only thing that consistently kept me awake was the teeth grinding. They're stubs now. Thanks James Denton and your always-half-laughing-for-no-reason delivery, interspersed with your weird suppressed-yawn-talking. Although, actually, it does make sense. And Catherine. Self-satisfied. Bell. Television's most smug apothecary. Please, please tell me there's a herbal tea to make you go away. "Hmm, okay, so we need to find someone to play a warm, artsy, alternative medicine-dispensing healer. Ooh! What about that cold, scrutinising, superior cultservative from JAG who responds to everything with a reptilian Stepford head tilt and an inscrutable 'hmm?' Who constantly gaslights all the other characters by looking at them with a blank smile even though she knows exactly what they're talking about? Yeah, her. Perfect."Watch only if you need to break an Ambien addiction.
sunflowers-44432 The new Halloween 2017 episode was good, but where where Derek, Ben, and Tom? Leaving them out seems like a gross oversight, especially since the cast is heavily weighted female. These characters really balance out the show, plus they provide side stories, esp with the relationship between Ben and Stephanie, and potentials for Derek to develop his character into something more. He was a big part of the first movies, so not having him seems like something is missing. Of course, Tom and Martha are always a hoot together. I hope they continue to provide script for these characters. I'd also like to see John return, since his departure after asking Cassie to go with him on his dig was a bit abrupt and it feels like this is an unfinished story line.
mshavzin It could be written off as the typical Hallmark brainless twaddle, and mostly it is. But I resent it masquerading as a family show. Sure, it never shows people having sex. But that in itself is not enough to make it a clean show. Cassie does not act like a mother should. She doesn't even act like a grown woman should. She is very promiscuous, sleeping with as many as three men at the same time. Also, for this to be a family show, it should show a family, Not a single mother badly raising a teenage daughter. The daughter is ill mannered, snarky, headstrong, and has the same lame powers of boring new ageism as the mother. She is also really rude and not very understanding to the boys she likes. Hardly something I would want my daughter to emulate. The men who flock to Cassie are completely unrealistic. One is a distinguished academic that looks like a washed up male model. The other is a plumber that looks like a washed up male model, which is somewhat more likely. The idea that any man would want to be around Cassie and er brat does make you think that magical powers are at play. Its not really helpful. The show always ends with Cassie sporting a smug smile you desperately want to beat off her face with a blunt object, and saying something from a lame self help book. Oh, lets not forget that vegan and holistic propaganda. If you are not in favor of either of those things you will REAL:LY hate this show.
jenngolden83 Good Witch is a show I cannot stop watching! It is a cheesy show, but it does make you feel good after you watch it. The characters are fun to watch grow. My only complaint would be the men in the show. Every single one of them want to get into bed with Cassie. It makes the show not seem so real when every guy that comes into it, is trying to get with Cassie. And of course, she refuses them all, even though I am rooting for the neighbor guy! I'm on season 2, so I know there are at least one more to go, but I hope it changes a bit. Keep the good feeling of the show, but change some of how new people enter the show. Good Witch makes you want to move to Middleton and be a part of the town. I would recommend this show.
