Lovesusti The Worst Film Ever
Actuakers One of my all time favorites.
Lollivan It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
Ginger Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.
lloydnash222 The first Nicktoons show to premiere in Nickelodeon in the early '90s, Doug revolves around the eponymous protagonist who experiences many events in his new home in Bluffington, where his family moved to after his father had a job promotion as a photographer. Doug usually faces many challenges, predicaments, and dilemmas that an average preteen can relate to, writing all his events in his journal. Among the characters are his faithful dog Porkchop, his sister Judy who is obsessed with Shakespeare, best friend Skeeter, his love interest Patti, his nemesis Roger, and his eccentric next-door neighbor Mr. Dink. What makes this show so great is that even though it's supposed to be realistic, it also balances out with a few quirks and crazy antics. Also, Doug's imaginations are very complex. He could have positive, negative, and even hilarious thoughts of impending situations. Recently, I never understood why this show has been given negative ratings all of a sudden. It was a show that reflects on our childhood and teaches us life lessons. It doesn't deserve any of the hate it receives nowadays. IMO, it's the best show on Nickelodeon of all time, that and Rocko's Modern Life, another personal favorite of mind. The Disney version of this show, however, is just awful.
Jimmy L. I remember watching "Doug" when it first aired in 1991 as part of Nickelodeon's first generation of Nicktoons. I recently saw the show for the first time in maybe a decade (or longer) and I was surprised at how much of it I remembered. Great for nostalgia, and just an all-around solid show."Doug" takes us back to a time in our lives when little things seemed like a big deal. Nearly all everyday situations offered the opportunity for embarrassment. Ah, the innocence of youth.Doug Funnie is a sixth grader prone to daydreams and fantasies who does his best to survive life at Bluffington Elementary School. The Funnie family is new to Bluffington and we learn more about the town's offbeat quirks as Doug does.Doug is kind of a dork. A nice guy and well-liked, but not the homecoming king type. He's self-conscious, nervous, awkward, and naïve. He must deal with the school bully, embarrassing family members, his academic career, his permanent record, the girl he secretly loves, and the constant pressure to fit in.The show is known for its offbeat style and its cast of colorful characters (Doug's friends Skeeter Valentine and Patti Mayonnaise, his dog Porkchop, his nemesis Roger Klotz, his neighbors Mr. and Mrs. Dink, his thespian sister Judy, Assistant Principal Lamar Bone, Mayor Robert "Bob" White, Doug's fictional alter-ego Quailman), as well as the colors of its cast of characters."Doug" is also memorable for its quirky music and sound effects (often mouth-generated), courtesy of Fred Newman. The episodes are grounded in wholesome values. Many stories end with Doug learning a lesson and recapping it in his journal. Roger always gets his comeuppance. The show is entertaining and relatable, and it's not going to corrupt kids.As odd as it sounds, "Doug" is almost twenty years old, but it doesn't feel outdated. Doug's situations and experiences are universal to all kids and make the show timeless in a way.
rocky599415 Doug from what i have read was one of the first Nicktoons on Nickoldeon. Doug was also a part of my childhood. Now i was born the later part of 91 so i have know memories of its original boardcast run until 94. I remember when it used to air on Nickoloden. I remember some episodes like Where doug thought he had found a dinosaur and turned out it was a Human. Or the one with him and Mr. Dink at the Boat docks. How bout the one where doug accidentally started the Schools science lab on fire by accident. Well either way the show was great Doug always used his imagination to when he got into problems. Heck i even still remember the Characters other than Doug Funny, like Skeeter The Beats,Patty Manase,Dougs Sister, Mr. And Mrs. Dink The Vice Principal, Dougs dog and thats all i can remember. I remember the show stopped airing regularly on Nickoldeon in Late 2000 Early 2001 because Spongebob and other Newer supposedly "Better" NickToons where coming out. The Show did have a second life on Disney but the Disney Doug sucked compared to the original. Well i started wondering what ever happened to it and in 2003 i found it on Nicktoons T.V. and man i remembered a lot of then. As the years went by thou i slowly started to forget about it and Nicktoons T.V. now plays mostly Bad Cartoons. Last year in 2008 however i was delighted to hear that for the first time it was coming out on DVD Season 1 and 2. I have still yet to get them but i shall get them soon. If you want to watch good, and real nicktoons watch this Show but if you want to stay with Spongebob(Which is played on Nick almost ever other hour) then forget It. Its really a shame that Nick took it off the air. Old Nick from the 1990s is still the best.
emasterslake Doug is about a preteen who just moved to a serial town called Bluffington. At first he was the new kid, but soon fit right in with the other kids and neighborhood. Doug Funny, has a hobby on writing his life on his own journal(which is the narration throughout the series). He's also talented in comic book collecting and writing. His parents are very caring, and his older sister, Judy is a grade A beatnik(who's knowledgeable about Shakespeare and acting). As well as Porkchop the pet dog(who the Snoopy of the series).Through out the episodes, Doug will face many problems, situations, and activities that all preteens go through in their lifetime. At the end, he would learn a lesson, something new, or accomplish something. A lot of the episodes are really funny and memorable to watch. And very 90s theme, as it was set in the early part of that era. This was also one of the earliest and original Nicktoons that aired on Nickeleon(during the golden years). As I watched this when I was little, I always presumed Bluffington was an actual place. Course I didn't know better back then. And people today might find it weird, as a lot of the characters a different color(ex. Doug's friend Skeeter is blue). But that was perfectly ignorable while watching the episodes. So those who like splice of life related cartoons will like Doug. And those who have kids of their own could introduce them to this memorable animated series.
