Livestonth I am only giving this movie a 1 for the great cast, though I can't imagine what any of them were thinking. This movie was horrible
Rosie Searle It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
Roxie The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;
Jenni Devyn Worth seeing just to witness how winsome it is.
sullivak-1 I loved the first few seasons of this show, but it seems that after Doc Martin and Louisa get married, everything goes downhill. My hubby still enjoys watching, but I keep telling him that I can't take watching it much longer... Where is the humanity in Doc Martin, anymore? He became a robotic arse as soon as the wedding. Geesh. I actually don't mind that the show is rather formulaic with the phony medical ailments and at least one big emergency and one medical mystery per show. What bothered me most was when the show stopped being quaint and sweet. It seems like everyone just got really weird and cooky and less human and neurotic. I keep telling hubby that if I don't start giving a crap about any of the characters, I'm not going to watch it with him any more. Even Louisa annoys me now... I just want her to tell the Doc what's bothering her. But they never talk. Oh, and this adorable baby, I actually stress about who's taking care of the baby for the whole show - they are so dismissive of him. OK, so I'm a mom and can't help it. Anyway, I think they should probably call it quits. Hey Brits, don't be so American and run a really good series into the ground because of ratings. Please.
David Skinner Best written drama/comedy I've watched. Superbly written, never preachy, and the music sets the perfect tone. A wonderful way to spend precious time. You want to love these characters; they all have a back story and you are drawn to their struggles. Dr. Ellingham is a hero because he always tells the truth, even when it hurts. Louisa sees his sterling character, but struggles with his personality. One blooper I gleefully noted: at one moment a character fires a shotgun, and the sound of a pump action shotgun is heard before the second shot. However, the gun shown is an over/under model, and cannot make the pump sound. My wife and I have started watching the entire series a second time and we are enjoying in at least as much as the first time. I must agree with those who wish to keep this from the "yanks," of which I am one! Unfortunately many USA writers feel compelled to insert multiple agendas and causes into whatever they write. Doc Martin, Downton Abbey, and all the other UK TV we've seen is free from this compunction. How refreshing. DJS
Regina McCullar Sparks I found this show on Netflix, and I was hesitate at first to watch it, but now I am so glad I did. I absolutely love this show. I am almost finished with seasons 1 - 6 and I only started watching it less than a week ago. I can't even sleep at night because I have to see the next episode. Absolutely loveeeeeeeeeeee this show. It is different from anything I have ever watched. The doctor seems to be one way but really surprises you with his honesty. This is one of the best shows on the television to this day. It amazes me how much I actually laugh at this show. The twists and turns of this show do keep you guessing. If there is one show that I will ever recommend, it is this one.
TKBlackburn My rating is 7, because it's a TEN for all previous seasons, but with season 6 the series is going downhill fast.Clearly Doc Martin was meant to have its fairytale happily ever after at the end of season/series 5, castle & all. The END. But now there's suddenly a 2013 6th season/series (just hitting the USA). Why?It's hard to believe the same writer who put together the most poignant ending in season 5 is the same writer of the first episode of season 6. Has he met these characters? The things they do & say don't mesh at all...Martin's blood phobia comes & goes when it's convenient for plot, paying no attention to his character. Dark, sinister plots including sex fiends seem to be the new norm. Bert is now not just a buffoon, but a mean-spirited jerk (at the wedding toward PC Penhale). Louisa is just plodding through her days with an unsatisfying new marriage to a sour-faced doc who no longer experiences any revelations or growth. Ruth is supposed to be intelligent, yet even when she suspects a sex fiend is after her she doesn't do anything about it until she's in mortal peril. In fact, she stupidly leads him right to her house!I never had one negative thing to say about Doc Martin in its first five seasons. It was the perfect beginning, middle & end. I wish I'd never discovered this latest season. Ruined it for me.Don't get me wrong. There are still small moments that are brilliant, but they don't add up to a cohesive, compelling storyline with consistent characters.Perhaps the fact that a new director is attached to all these subpar episodes explains the decline. It's important to pay attention to character nuances & consistencies, yet no one in production seems to understand who these characters are in season 6. Sad.
