Instead, you get a movie that's enjoyable enough, but leaves you feeling like it could have been much, much more.

The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful
Casey Duggan
It’s sentimental, ridiculously long and only occasionally funny
Scarlet
The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

Nothing beats authentic raw primal Jane's Addiction and I think Flea was a perfect fit and or replacement for Eric even though Eric is the original punker in my opinion. I highly recommend this film as well as The Gift a film by Perry Farrell chronicling his life in the early days a bit more scriptfully and with a splash of Perry's off the wall eccentricity and humor. Jane's at their weirdest and craziest is by far my favorite band of all time, I don't think anybody laid it all out on the line like they did and still do when they reunite with the right element. Perry is brilliant, I don't need to elaborate on that, Dave is the greatest Rock guitarist of all time, Stephen is a tiny beast on the kit, Flea is a flea on steroids and LSD, is a sweetheart, and I love the guy.

I suppose proof how how effective this movie chronicling the reunion tour of Jane's Addiction is, is that I'm not a die hard fan of the band, but still had a great time. The film pulls no punches in terms of showing the life of a touring rock band, warts and all.
