Arianna Moses Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.

mbox02 Very nice review above.However, it belongs to the original cartoon series "Priklyucheniya Kapitana Vrungelia" of 1976:http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0219263/This 1982 release is not a cartoon series, but a film for children, based on the same general storyline, with some unexpected twists, for example Lom is now a Georgian fellow with the stereotypical heavy Georgian accent; the third sailor is not the mysterious art smuggler, but a schoolboy from a local school, etc.This film was not quite as popular as the original cartoon series. I left the Soviet Union in 1985 as a kid, and never seen this 1982 film, but all the kids were going wild about the 1976 cartoons! I watched it with my son who was born in the US, we had a blast.
