Artivels Undescribable Perfection
filippaberry84 I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
Hayden Kane There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes
Kayden This is a dark and sometimes deeply uncomfortable drama
adaytobreakthehorizon I decided to give this one a go simply because of the praise on the cover from media outlets such as FearNet and Fangoria. Well, all I have to say is that those companies have surely let their standards slip over the years. This had potential to be an interesting little indie flick, but it fell flat on it's face thanks to a severely disjointed storyline, some messy design choices and an ugly look overall that just gives the idea that the filmmakers really weren't trying that hard in the areas the should have been. And most of the acting is pretty awful too. Don't make the same mistake I did.
MyCrookedHalo Reasons why you should not watch this movie: Bad dubbing or sound technique. Spent the first ten minutes of the movie trying to figure out if was dubbed or sound was just off track. Underdeveloped story. Characters you will never learn to care about, but will find yourself hoping they die early on in the film, which they won't! An ending that makes you think "WTF, that's it". And it's not even the thought provoking kind of ending. Please heed the reviews and spend your time elsewhere. Also, don't be fooled by the picture on IMDb for the movie. That is not the house in the movie, and there is nothing remotely scary or creepy about this film.
David Arnold I won't describe the "story" of the movie as it's already done with Netflix's own description and there isn't much point in repeating it. Plus I want to get through this in as quick a time as possible because I don't really want to give this trash much more of my time, so here goes. The Invoking is absolutely horrendous. I saw a trailer for it and thought it looked pretty decent. Boy, was I wrong! It is nothing like how it's described or shown in the trailer as it's portrayed as a really scary, supernatural type of horror but be warned...it's none of these. In fact you can't really describe it as a horror either, but it most definitely IS horrific. The story makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, especially the ending, and the plot has no development. It just drags on aimlessly. You get that the main character has inherited a house from her aunt, but it doesn't build on this. It just stops and it's like the actors make it up as they go along, and speaking of which...the acting is equally horrendous. It's like they have just been plucked out from a drama class that was in the middle of preparing for a school play. Also, the director tries to get far too artsy with the sheer amount of few second "in between" scenes of trees, grass, the sun in the sky etc. It's like he has added those to try and set the scene, but it doesn't give that impression at all and they just get annoying. There are plenty of low-budget movies out there that are good, but this is most definitely not one of them. Avoid at all costs. You have been warned.
Ginalclark I just watched this movie & have no idea about what it's about! The acting & scenery was OK but the plot was awful! What's the story with the hallucinations & who is the caretaker really? This movie didn't answer any questions I had, the ending did not make any sense to me. Don't waste your time watching this movie unless you like to be confused! Well I guess I have to add some more criticism or it won't post my review. Terrible movie, I wish I hadn't wasted my day watching it! Someone else wrote in a review that Sam & the caretaker guy were brother & sister, I have no idea how they figured that out. Knowing that still does not help me figure out the movie! I think the writer must have ADHD & cannot form any flowing thoughts.
