This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.

The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.

We may feel that contemporary films have too much rapid cutting, but in this film the 33 year old Griffith introduces rapid cutting. I'm not a fan of rapid cutting to be quite frank, but at least I know who to attach the blame to. I don't believe that audiences are that dense that they need rapid cutting to maintain concentration.
