Hellen I like the storyline of this show,it attract me so much
Hayden Kane There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes
Kien Navarro Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.
Mathilde the Guild Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
queen_e_91 This film was good in someways and bad in some ways. The concept was good but it was basically copying Sister Act 2. The good thing about the film was the singing and music. Without out that the film would have been rubbish. I have watched the film many times but the only reason is because of the singing. I think that this film was a great chance for Beyonce Knowles to show off her acting skills. Her performance was excellent. I really like the film because it may be a film that the concept has been copied from another but the acting was good and I think that was what made it good and because the film had a bit of comedy in it.
Sonofamoviegeek Yes, the plot is minimal and formula. Of course Cuba's going to hook up with the girl. Of course, they'll win the competition. But that's not what the movie is all about. It's music and specifically Gospel. This movie has all kinds of Gospel; Traditional, Modern Urban, R&B-related and, yes, Christian Rap. Even if you're over 30, this movie will change your mind about Rap.Of course, Beyonce can't act. She's wooden and needs acting lessons. Who cares? The woman can sing and that's what the movie is all about. It's my first time to see Beyonce do Gospel and she does a decent job, showing the right emotion. Most Top 40 musicians can't make that transition. See Fighting Temptations as a Gospel celebration with a movie placed haphazardly in the way of the musical numbers.Back to the writing. One quibble is that you never get "slain in the Spirit" in a Baptist church. You've got to go to a Pentecostal church for that one. My other quibble is some of the comments by contributors who identify themselves as African-American think the rest of us won't get it because it's "too in". Actually, hypocrisy, greed, lies and credit card fraud cuts across all cultures and races. And, Oh yeah, every male is into booty. Nothing especially African-American about any of that.I'm in danger of repeating myself but, trust me on this, see it for the music.
Tigerlover7 In my opinion, a very underrated movie. The music is emotionally stirring with some of the top rhythm and blues artist performing as members of the choir. I especially enjoyed the Barber Shop scene with the OJAYS and the little boy. Bianca is mesmerizing with her beauty and voice and does a rendition of Sumertime that you will always remember. With GREAT gospel singing and well as some excellent RAPPING, I was entertained throughout the movie. I was surprised to see how well Cuba Gooding Jr. could break dance. Their is fun, romance, comedy and entertainment that will keep you smiling and perk you up for an afternoon of enjoyment. I've added this movie to my personal collection of films and it's one that I recommend to anyone trying to make up their minds about what to watch. It has something for everyone.
theminx-1 I can understand why some people didn't like this movie. If you're not familiar with the church or the South & their lingo, you won't get a lot of the jokes or appreciate the scenarios presented in the film.I've spent a lot of time around church choirs & in the South, & everything in the movie reminded me of the experiences I had growing up, both happy & painful. Each of those choir members represented to me people that I've come across in my musical church travels.I gave the movie an 8 out of 10 because it hit a chord with me personally. I hope those of you who've been around the church block a few times or spent any amount of time below the Mason/Dixon Line will give this movie a shot.
