GurlyIamBeach Instant Favorite.
ThrillMessage There are better movies of two hours length. I loved the actress'performance.
IncaWelCar In truth, any opportunity to see the film on the big screen is welcome.
Ginger Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.
ryu-41539 Enjoyed this film, same premises as the japanese film battle royal just up to date version. And of course has Vinnie Jones in, bu the camara was always shaky onf the fighting scenes which was a tad annoying.
Arup Mukherjee In spite so many negative reviews, I watched the movie. I am glad I did, cause till end, I had a good time.First with the good things. I have seen "Tournament", "Death Race", Hunger Games" etc. before and I kind of like these movies. When I started watching this, I did not expect much. But I was surprised to find out that the movie had elements, that were quite entertaining. The story was good enough. The performances of actors were more than what was expected. The cinematography was good. The speed was satisfactory. Lastly the direction was great, and I would love to see a few more from Scott Wiper. But there were a few loose ends too. The story line had great opportunities for Breckel, our villain no. 1, but I feel he could not be as cool as there was scope. And then, if he was so choosy about his contestants as we could see at the beginning of the film, what made him select Paco and his wife and Yasantwa? I don't know. Also near the climax, Jack died on camera, but came back off camera. Then how come his wife seemed expecting him when he returned at the last scene? Also I feel her character did not deserve that much of screen space. Lastly, during the fight scenes, I did not understand why there were so many cuts, why the camera shook so much with so many close shots.
reach-pratiksha Started to watch this movie as the initial few minutes seemed to be very promising. As the movie proceeded, it was clear it is purely violence porn and belonged to a very particular audience who will unapologetically appreciate violence porn. I would have given this movie much less thought and relegated it to the exploitative genre, a guilty pleasure watch if it had not gone on to pretend like it has a conscience and integrity. At one point point this movie even throws a preach speech as if it cares that what a social decay this genre is, and it comes across as so hypocritical that it's comical. There is no excuse for this bad movie.
Python Hyena The Condemned (2007): Dir: Scott Wiper / Cast: Steve Austin, Vinnie Jones, Robert Mammone, Madeleine West, Emilia Burns: Typical action film about those weighted down by sin. Simple plot has ten death row convicts placed on an island with explosives attached to their ankles. The key to survival is to kill until one is left alive to claim freedom. Broadcast via Internet by a big T.V. tycoon. Basically one violent showdown after another until reaching the obvious conclusion. Director Scott Wiper does an innovative job. Wrestler Steve Austin does exactly as expected and that is play a wrestler in prison. His first scene has him tested by beating the snot out of several guys before being chosen for this nitwit scheme. He will continue to fight as if in a WWE title tournament except this junk will reward him with nothing but loads of negative reviews. Vinnie Jones as a sadistic convict will be the ultimate boring showdown that we can predict before Austin is placed on location. Supporting roles are just targets for brutality including the idiot tycoon who will obviously get his in the end. The criminals are your standard hard faced brain dead zombies who are there to die for nothing. This is a pathetic excuse to showcase scene after scene of mindless violence and brutality. The film trades a potential message of media violence for the very thing it supposedly condemned. Score: 3 / 10
