Solemplex To me, this movie is perfection.
Nessieldwi Very interesting film. Was caught on the premise when seeing the trailer but unsure as to what the outcome would be for the showing. As it turns out, it was a very good film.
Rosie Searle It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
Marva It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,
stcanard5 Tarsem Singh's The Cell is considered by many to be pretentious surrealism. It's an odd film that requires a lot of attention and analysis to truly enjoy, and it actually is one of my own favourite films; there's so much detail and care in every aspect of the film. The Cell 2 does not have this redemption. In fact, I sense it shouldn't even be called "The Cell 2" at all. It's like it was some budget D-movie movie that got retitled, like those cartoon knockoffs at Walmart that get Disney-similar titles. The Cell 2 feels at times like some film major got stoned, watched The Cell, made his own weird interpretation, and then shot it in Vancouver. It's embarrassing. Its special effects look like they're straight out of a 1990s YTV commercial. It's extremely difficult to review this movie without comparing it to the "original", but it's the movie's own fault for declaring that association. The Cell 2's reality holds no weight; with The Cell, the technology was presented with a normalcy that let you briefly believe it could really happen. But, here, its protagonist has the ability to psychically connect with someone through their personal belongings, which sounds like the plot of a hackneyed anime. The film also tries too hard to make its antagonist mysterious, before shifting to trying to make him funny and endearing post-reveal. This is a guy who palpably hates women and tortures them with electricity; the people who would be endeared by him are people you don't want to make movies for.The Cell's Carl Stargher was so mysterious that the viewer actually wanted to know about him. Meanwhile, I can barely tell you the name of The Cell 2's villain offhand.I watched this on a whim on the same night I found it even existed. If you don't like The Cell, just don't watch this. If you do like The Cell, also just don't watch this. It's a cheaply done, cheaply-plotted wannabe crime thriller that someone tried to tack onto a better film.
ctomvelu1 A very loose and disappointing sequel to The Cell, Cell 2 stars a Sandra Bullock lookalike as a clairvoyant on the trail of a serial killer named The Cusp. Fifteen minutes into the movie and we know who the killer is. Shot on no budget, this Utah-lensed video makes little effort in the special effects department, in stark contrast to The Cell with its operatic sets and imaginative use of CGI. So it's pretty much a standard criminal pursuit film, and the truth is one can get more kick out of an episode of TV's Criminal Intent. Toward the end, for a few seconds, we get to see our clairvoyant heroine all gussied up. And I must admit I wouldn't mind spending a little time with her. But she is no Jennifer Lopez (or Sandra Bullock) in the acting department, at least not here. Frank Whaley costars.
insomniac_rod "The Cell 2" had a lot of potential. It's a follow-up to a modern cult classic. The plot sounds very interesting. I mean, it deals with a special FBI unit that is after a dangerous serial killer. This special unit applies supernatural elements to discover what the killer is thinking and what's going to be his next move.Well, it soon gets dull and predictable. You will know who the real villain is without a single problem. The gore is not so bad and the torture instruments are just okay. It was very inspired by the "Saw" movies but without the necessary punch.Everything solves in the classic cat and mouse chase and then the result is a mediocre direct to video effort. I would only recommend it for those of b-movie hunger that enjoy cops with supernatural strategies. Otherwise, skip it! Tess Santiago has a golden ass. That should be a positive thing about this movie.
leaftye Wow, I don't think I've ever seen a movie with less thought put into it. Mostly I'm annoyed with the helicopter. Come on, they land and stop to talk to the officers in the trucks, but wait, they do it on the radio without anyone getting out of their vehicles. At the scene, the helicopter lands and the people that were in it do nothing to contribute, but if they'd stayed up in the air, they would've seen the perp get out. In the long chase seen, the perp magically appears in different areas due to very poor work splicing cuts together.I could go on and on, but I won't. Just don't see this movie. This bears little resemblance to the original and looks like it had little thought put into it by the director and producer. The Skylar character was awful too. To be fair, the other actors weren't nearly as bad. I think Chris Bruno actually did okay. The cheapness in this film was incredible. I can kind of understand doing a messy landing instead of really crashing the helicopter, but getting ALL your books from the library?
