Steineded How sad is this?
ShangLuda Admirable film.
AnhartLinkin This story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.
Kien Navarro Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.
sergelamarche The bible is hard to read. I hate it. Plus, it's impossible for us who do not know much about the period to interpret correctly the texts in the bible. This is why this series is so interesting. Give us the stories and put them in context. The series is however, not all that accurate and does not provide the answers I'd wish. There is another TV broadcast about Jesus made by archaeologists explaining very well some the significant aspects of the story. There is a definitive version still to make. The parts before Jesus are fun but the jews don't look good at all in them. The people chosen by god that have all the rights? The germans sure showed them wrong. And now we know the englishes are the ones chosen by god! Haha!
Chris Kev All glorified, shows none of the true horrors of the age other than the "struggles" of the beloved hero of the story, lacks depth and is really only watchable if you're into religion. I'm not religious but I quite like the mythological background of Christianity, the whole Demons, Angels, Day of Judgment vibe could be an appealing story that you could slip in some dogma in. Instead this is dogma with a tiny bit of story...utterly unapproachable to the average Joe.
auntlulu I have to say that the bible isn't there to be picked apart by wanna-be critics. The people who wrote and directed this mini-series didn't do it to make people happy-they did it to show the true stories depicted. Yes the Israelites were fighters-at some points they had to be! And the Nebuchanezzar episode? That story is absolutely true and happened just as you saw (or in some of your cases, you didn't make it that far-just the second episode?) just as CHRISTIANS (not Xtians) read these stories, and grew up hearing them (myself included), the stories are depicted. I do wish they had included a bit more in the story of Joseph. That is my only complaint. I watch this series because the way they come across rings true. It isn't i overacting if the words, emotions, and reactions are taken from the pages of the bible.
jameskcdn1 This most recent biblical film could have been so good... After "consulting 47 theological advisers (including Rick Warren, and one rabbi)"... how is it that so many things were not done correctly?Yes, one wonders how any involved could have not consulted the Bible. To list all factual errors would be another mini-series, but I will say we KNOW what the key Bible coins look like -and they got them wrong. Some are so inexpensive it would have been less costly to use the real deal instead of a poor prop! in this area I give you a generous -1(disgraceful)! Like Judas, these advisers should seek to return their payment!
