Diagonaldi Very well executed
Curapedi I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.
StyleSk8r At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
Mathilde the Guild Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
Lola A What on earth happened in the end? And do these people know that a minute has only 60 seconds and not like 600? The minutes in this movie beat those of microwave, bakers and gym equipments. The real-life lessons: Don't owe money to people. Don't try to be a perfectionist. So not want deep or brain picking lessons in this movie that one could reflect on.Plausibility: very low. How can two people only create all this technology and have this advanced plan that seems to work well until you know the hero of the movie destroys it. Two people alone are not plausible, the movie should have shown the team, the crew, the supporters of whatever to make it more believable. Chatter analysis, development and depth: no character is deep enough. Some reasons for their behaviour are presented but they are not articulated enough to make us care about those reasons or at least understand them. Acting: why?!, why did they give Noel Clarke the leading role? I can't remember having seen worse acting in a very very long time. He is juts so antipathetical. He doesn't make you care about him at all. Ian Somerhalder was great but I must say seeing him in the role of the villain is a bit cliché and since he has done that (the role) for a very long time, his acting can't be called impressive. Plot/ Storytelling: I think the storyline is presented quite smartly. You don't know what is happening just like Ryan doesn't and with every episode you learn a bit more just like Ryan does. I liked this way of telling the story. What I did not like was the ending. Like when by chance in the last 10 seconds they discover the doctor so that they can kill him and get the hero ending. The fighting scenes.Oh dear. Worst fighting scenes I have ever seen in a movie. All the slowing for very unimpressive moves. They were just bad.
TdSmth5 A guy wakes up in a room. There's a flashlight. He finds a kid chained to a wall. He frees him. They tinker with a wall and turns out they are inside a moving armored vehicle. No problem, they just push the door open and jump out when it stops and walk away. They are in London in the future. Well, the guys in the front aren't happy and start chasing them. The two escape to a cemetery where the kid tells him that men in red masks killed his mom. When the bad guys arrive, it turns out that Ryan has some fighting skills and he beats one of them. The other guy knows him. When Ryan starts going through his own pockets he finds a gun and a red mask. But suddenly something strange happens. Now he wakes up several days later in a room with books and with some type of plan on the wall. The bad guy is there as well. He talks to Ryan as if they work together on some project. We learn more about Ryan. He was military and confined to an institution for PTSD, panic, and anxiety. The boss and researcher there is Dr. Langham who took care of him. The bad guy is working on something that involves the kid.Again something jarring happens and Ryan wakes up having sex with a prostitute in New York days later. He remembers the kid and decides to take the prostitute with him, but first he has to go through her Russian pimp. More fights ensue. He promises her freedom of she helps him find the kid. Good thing he remembers information from the previous episodes and he notices that each time he has about 10 minutes to get things done before he's transported elsewhere. They escape but the Russians are in pursuit and they also run into the police.Next he wakes up in a room where a guy is being waterboarded by police. He's there as some physician who OKs whether to continue or stop the "interrogation". The victim is some researcher named Leonid. The two manage to escape. But at every turn the bad guy appears.Through more of these episodes we discover that Ryan has received some implants by a corporation run by the good Dr. Langham who now has the kid. The aim is through these implants to control people. The problem is that Ryan's implants have a connectivity issue with the satellite which is why he gets these 10 minutes where he gets to be himself. During the other times his body is controlled by Langham. Ryan with the help of the prostitute will try to stop the Langham project to control all humanity and to rescue the kid. He'll have to confront Langham and the bad guy who always shows up and is actually Langham's son.The Anomaly is interesting and a bit original. It mixes science with futuristic sci-fi with a fight action movie and all told in these short episodes. The science is the strongest aspect. There are also some interesting ideas about humanity and control. I wouldn't recommend looking for plot holes though because there are plenty. The weakest are the fights. Oddly enough it seems that the filmmakers knew the fights were weak too, and how could they not, however instead of trying to mask the weakness they further enhanced it with tricks designed to make good fights look good. Here instead we have several poor fights that looks even worse. They used some jumping camera work and Matrix-like slow-mo editing, which works when fights are fast at normal speeds. But if you have slow and weak punches to begin with and slow them down, well, the result is nothing to brag about. Another problem is the completely uncharismatic lead and a dry villain. You do end up disliking the bad guy mostly because he's a bit annoying and because his role isn't thought out well, but you certainly don't care at all for the hero. Things improve casting-wise once the lovely Alexis Knapp appears, unfortunately she doesn't get enough to do. The Anomaly is an intriguing, good looking movie that creates more expectations than it fulfills.
MoviesReviews101 Story: We start by our hero Ryan waking up in a locked black room, where upon investigation he finds a young boy chained to the wall. They join forces to try and escape, this offers us information about our hero and the early sign of what is going on. We discover that Ryan is part of a project where he gets rebooted every 9 minutes 47 seconds. We watch as Ryan goes through a labyrinth of time while his associate Harkin keeps tracks of him. Each location he ends up in ends up asking more questions than answers but as each one happens a bigger picture starts to appear. Sometime these time travel type films can come off very good but some come off very confusing. This falls somewhere in the middle where from what I understood happened I enjoyed the idea but I did find myself questioning certain things. I do like a sci-fi time travel like films and I also like the ones that try something different and I do believe this one does try to achieve that. It will leave you confused but once you figure it all out it comes off quite rewarding. (7/10)Actor ReviewNoel Clarke: Ryan our hero who had been struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder. We watch how he jumps through time and finds himself in different location and different situations. He tries to uncover the what is happening and while he finds himself re-entering certain location he figures out how to stop what is happening. Noel gives a good performance in the lead role and keeps his dual duties together. (7/10)Ian Somerhalder: Harkin Langham partner to Ryan who keeps him under control and always appears in the each one of the time jumps he ends up going on. He does hold secrets to what is happening and is after something much bigger than Ryan believes. Ian gives a good performance as the smooth talking villain of the piece. (7/10)Support Cast: With the jumps taking Ryan to different location and times we meet a range of supporting characters who all help answer small questions that are ongoing through the film.Director Review: Noel Clarke – Noel does a great job directing leaving each scene with questions and returning to them later without letting you forget about them. (8/10)Action: The slow-motion fights all come off very well. (8/10) Sci-Fi: Delves into the world of time travel working to high standards. (9/10) Thriller: Keeps you guessing to what is actually happening throughout the film. (9/10) Settings: Each setting comes off very easy to identify but rarely helps the story continue. (4/10) Special Effects: The future world comes off very nicely along with the weapons. (7/10) Suggestion: I can only give this a try it because it will come off confusing for some people it will need your full attention to full understand what is going on. (Try It) Best Part: The brothel shoot-out. Worst Part: Slightly too confusing. Action Scene Of The Film: Fighting in the brothel.Believability: No (0/10) Chances of Tears: No (0/10) Chances of Sequel: No Post Credits Scene: No Similar Too: Twelve Monkeys Oscar Chances: No Runtime: 1 Hour 37 Minutes Tagline: What is the Anomaly?Overall: Quantum Leap The Film?Check out more reviews on http://moviesreview101.com/
leonblackwood Review: This movies starts off well and then it really gets over complicated and difficult to follow. The main character keeps on waking up in different situations, not knowing who he is and what he is doing there. Throughout the movie he's trying to find out what the hell is going on, with the baddies on his tale, and he finds out that he has kidnapped a little boy who he eventually, tries to save. After a while, I lost interest in this film because it seemed to be going round and round in circles and it was getting more complicated on the way. The fighting scenes were really bad and I can never I understand why a group of people don't rush a person together except for getting there ass kicked one by one. With that aside, the acting wasn't that bad and the movie didn't look cheap, but it was way too complicated and I personally lost interest. Disappointing!Round-Up: Noel Clarke really hasn't hit form since Kidulthood and Adulthood. He had a small role in Star Trek Into Darkness, but he hasn't had anything that major since. In this movie, which he directed and wrote, he really does give his all by doing his own stunts and putting in an emotional performance, but the movie really wasn't that good. The constant switching of scenes becomes a bit tedious after a while and when the whole plot unfolds, it still doesn't make any sense. I'm sure I would understand what Noel Clarke was trying to achieve, if i watch it again, but I really wasn't that impressed the first time round.I recommend this movie to people who are into there action/thrillers about a man whose trying to work out who he is, after waking up in a van with a little boy beside him. 3/10
