Karry Best movie of this year hands down!
UnowPriceless hyped garbage
CrawlerChunky In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.
Gurlyndrobb While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.
Syo Kennex From director Gregg Bishop comes the 2016 creature feature SiREN; the story of a bachelor party that turns into a fight for survival when the groom accidentally releases a dangerous predator. I found this by chance when I was browsing for a film to watch late one night, and decided to give it a try. I knew that likely, it would be a bad film, with nothing much to hold it, and I wasn't expecting much from it; maybe that's why I enjoyed it so much.I found this film to be quite unique, even though it was based off of V/H/S and another piece of media, Amateur Nightt. The story itself – the groom releases a siren after being totally bewitched by her, and murder, gore and a fight for survival follows. The only thing that did rather annoy me about this film was that, it took a while to start up. It was very slow to begin, and that really put me in a bit of a bad mood with it. It took me a while to get into it when it did eventually start up, but I was grateful I was rather bored with it. It made the beginning of the story line and the action much more exciting. The acting in this was really well done, and all actors and actresses deserve to be recognised for their work in this film. They obviously worked hard for it and it more than definitely paid off; the acting in this, for a creature feature, is absolutely spectacular. The special effects, as a make up artist myself, I have to mention. They were shockingly good. They were very realistic, they looked like the siren herself was something you could come across in the street when walking at night, and isn't that the goal of special effects? Unfortunately, of course, there was the insane blood splatter that just isn't realistic at all, for the gore factor shock horror, and that was a real disappointment, after the film was just so strong in everything else.In summary – the acting and special affects are A*, the story line could have done better and is about a B-, and the overall experience was amazing, ranking about an A-
milosprole9 It's surprisingly great, fun movie! The actors were okay, but that "I like you." girl is always creepy, and she does a fine job. I love how they made this movie based on Greek mythology. I think it's a fine horror/fantasy movie. I'm was a fan of Hannah Fierman's character from V/H/S (2012) from segment 'Amateur Night', but after watching SiREN makes me love her even more.I'd give it a solid 7/10.
subxerogravity Hoping for more nudity but the girls are hot.If you ever seen the first VHS film, the monster in siren reminds me of the monster in the first story of that movie. Probably why I like it so much.Nothing like having a real scary bitch be into you. And like in that segment it was a natural selection. She loved his sent. Either this movie is a total rip off of the VHS short or the filmmakers extended that story in this movie (Because it was the best story) the same way Machete became a movie after being a fake trailer in Grindhouse.Best bachelor party ever!? Probably not from their perspective. A group of dudes end up going to a whore house for a Bachelor Party only to have their lives screwed up thanks to one of the whores that happens to be a demon.Siren is giving us the right amount of gore and horror.Man! I can't believe I almost did not go to see this. It was either this or another more mainstream movie I knew more about but I took a risk that paid off.http://cinemagardens.com
Peter Midknight I really liked it. Loved all 3 VHS movies and fondly remember "Amateur Night". I was so intrigued by that and I'm glad Hannah Fierman got to do this movie and we got to see 'all that she was' in action. When they pulled the Medusa thing, I thought it was a stretch but I couldn't get over how cool it was so I ended up liking it - just didn't know they were gonna get that crazy on me. Great attention was paid to sound and atmosphere. I think Hannah did a great job and so did the rest of the actors. I enjoyed this movie a hell of a lot more than I enjoyed The Lazarus Effect (2015). I think it deserves more than a 6/10 on IMDb. **I found this to be a solid movie with an intriguing story and a satisfying ending. ***8/10*** in my book. The VHS movies seem to exist in an alternate reality where many of our nightmares exist. I think that VHS and Bloody Disgusting should expand on all their shorts and show us more of this hellish world. Granted, not all the shorts were gold, as I think there were various directors involved for each but there were some gems in there like "Amateur Night", "Tuesday the 17th" LOVED that one,"A Ride in the Park" Zombie movie VHS style.. yes please. "Safe Haven" stuck with me. Im not sure how "Vicious Circles" struck others but I like it enough to want a bigger and better job done on it like they did with "Amateur Night"s The Siren. Might be something with "Dante the Great", but the actors were kinda sub par, good idea, meh execution. "Bone Storm" wasn't 'spot on' but it was classic VHS stuff. Cant get enough of the good FF films like As Above So Below, VHS, The Bay, Afflicted, Grave Encounters, The Tunnel etc.Bloody Disgusting films are tricky.. it's like they want you to take them seriously.. but not toooo seriously. It's a hard balance to strike with things suddenly getting very real but, are at the same time, being very unreal. I'd love to see more from Bloody Disgusting and the like.
