Claysaba Excellent, Without a doubt!!
BallWubba Wow! What a bizarre film! Unfortunately the few funny moments there were were quite overshadowed by it's completely weird and random vibe throughout.
Rio Hayward All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
Allison Davies The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
cricketbat Shutter Island is a disturbing, yet interesting film that does a good job of convincing the audience that they are crazy. Confusing edits, combined with deliberate continuity errors create a unique mind-bending experience. However, the film felt fairly contrived and it was, in parts, quite predictable.
cinephile-27690 I did not think this was bad. But as a guy who directed my favorite movie(Silence, along with The Last Temptation of Christ) and other favorites like The Aviator or The Departed-who also have the same star, I found this to be weak. It was engaging at first and had a mind blowing end, but the middle seemed to lag behind. I hated The Wolf of Wall Street, and this is only one movie better. It's not bad, if you want to see it, I won't discourage it. Just know Martin can do better than this.
jasonam What begins as an austere investigation tale steadily descends into a dark realm of madness and deception. Not for the faint of heart, this film is another Scorsese touchstone; visually striking, musically haunting, conceptually intriguing, but overall an exercise in suspense.
adonis98-743-186503 In 1954, a U.S. Marshal investigates the disappearance of a murderer, who escaped from a hospital for the criminally insane. Despite the excellent perfomances from Leonardo DiCaprio and the rest of the cast in general 'Shutter Island' is definitely one of Leo's worst films since it fails to capture the right suspense but it's also quite confusing at times as well. Scorsese's direction is pretty good but the movie is just not that very interesting and perhaps abit to slow and that is also very disappointing and just forgettable to a pulp. (4/10)
