Invaderbank The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.
long-ford This is a hard-hitting crime drama and generally works despite some flaws. Vivek Oberoi is impressive as a rising gangster with Sanjay Dutt the police officer who's after him. While initially appearing to be about police brutality and fake 'encounters', the story has a few twists. The denouement provided by Amitabh Bachchan is admittedly a touch simplistic. However, the action is gritty, and the film well-paced. There are a few discrepancies in the plot line. and some of the songs could have been cut. The climax is effective though it could have been better.Overall 6/10
Manoj Ransing The overall movie I feel is good, but could have been a lot lot better, only if the director would have stopped to make an effort to make the movie more entertainer. What I mean by this is some scenes, almost all songs, and Abhishek Bachhan are not only unnecessary, but they also kill the mood. Let me start with the good points. The movie shows the battle between cops and shooters. The plot is very good, the movie has a good pace. Sometimes you feel cops are right and sometimes you think the underworld gang should survive. It is this part which makes you switch your side, made the movie watchable. Also it has given exactly the same weight to family matters as it is needed. The next comes the actors Sanjay Dutt and Vivek-Anand Oberoi. The entire story revolves around the characters they have played, viz. ACP Samsher Khan, and Maya Dallas. All care have been taken to make an impression about these two characters. Showing them walking in slow motion, walking around without caring about the bullets being fired around, the punch lines, and the dialogs. Watching these two on screens doing the stuffs in their style is a good experience. Apart from story line and these two actors, all other things are ordinary. But fortunately they doesn't make the movie bad. Other actors Sunil Shetty, Arbaz Khan, Rohit Roy fits in their characters, and have done good, at least no harm to their characters. Just that I feel that those hi-fi conversation between Arbaaz and Sunil could have been removed. It hurts the characters and purely unnecessary. Now the bad part. First I will mention Tushhar Kapoor. Though his outfit is changed to suit as an "don't care" shooter, his acting is very pathetic. One can clearly tell that he is trying hard to get into character, but he can not. Also his character Buwa also misbehaves differently in movie. In the beginning it feels that he is a serious thinker, and not of type "just do it". But later in the movie he is shown just shooting the people unnecessary, laughing at unnecessary points, and making unnecessary comments. I feel that if this character could have been portrait better, it would have done a lot better for the movie. Watching Tushhar Kapoor on screen is just a terrible punishment. The songs as mentioned by many, is a total useless addition. Though they are good to listen and watch, they harm a lot to the story line. In fact, it is this part, which makes the movie unrealistic. The songs are to be blamed major for not having this movie in the quality of Vaastav or Satya. I will just say that, if you haven't watched the movie, go and watch it. But just don't put much expectations. This is based on true rumors, and exactly has got nothing to do with reality.
Amrit Singh If you are expecting a real life depiction of an incident that happened some 16 years ago, if you are expecting a true to life cinema, if you are expecting a film on the lines of Black Friday… then you'll be disappointed. And big time.Because this is no real life. Its hardcore commercial cinema, with all the entities of a typical Bollywood potboiler intact. So you have item numbers with no relevance with the narrative, you have cops delivering stylish dialogs on television, you have gangs of men walking in slow-mo, you have cop-gangster fight where they prefer fists over pistols, you have an amazing background score in the shootout sequences… so is that bad. No, not at all. In fact it's good, very entertaining. But not real by any yardsticks. So before entering forget that it's based on any true incident (well if you know that at the first place), watch it as a fictitious action thriller, and you'll be entertained. Direction and cinematography of the film is top notch. The story is thrilling and taut, you'll be on the edge of the seat for most of the time if not always. The action sequences, especially in the final moments of film are really good.Sanjay Dutt delivers a knock out performance yet again. Sunil Shetty makes the film all the more fictitious; I personally have never seen a cop who looks, walks, dresses or behaves like him. Arbaz Khan is decent. They should have used a better adhesive for his moustaches, its fluttering at times. Abhishek in guest appearance is good. Tusshar Kapoor tries his best to shed the "good boy next door" image, and marginally succeeds too, but it'll still take some more time. Amrita Singh is solid, well not literally, performance vise. And this film sort of marks the come back of Vivek Oberoi. You see glimpse of Company (his debut film) days. He's still not lost all of it. He can be revived, only if he selects his films wisely. All in all, an entertaining and larger than life film. Watch if for fun, not for history lessons.
sudhir_rout I would like the director of this movie to read this, because its for him. Dude do you know in your wildest dream what exactly you were trying to make, or its just by fluke this happened? Gawd !!! if i start then i would need a complete register to mark out all the flaws in this movie. To begin with, the movie was made only for star cast. nothing else !!! The only reason the movie is running is only due to the star cast !! man what a waste of time and talent. and the sheer motive of the movie is not cleared at all. And why the hell the Rock music as the background score???? The slo-mo walking of the goons, Rap song, meaningless Bar songs thrown in between to stretch the movie, and there is no creativity in the director at all, the direction falls flat throughout the movie, example the News reporter shown in the TV, without the channel logo, looks like the TV was directly connected to a VCD player, atlest something could have been shown as if it would have looked like a news channel, the ending was the worst part, constables shooting at the building without any reasons, and if u notice, it was like a typical cheap masala bollywood flick as all the heroes got there share of the goons, that is Suniel shetty getting Tushhar, Suni getting Vivek, Arbaaz getting Rohit, i mean what exactly the was suppose to mean, that was absolute bullshit!!! vivek and sunil throwing pistol and engaging in wrestling sort of fight instead of guns, arbaaz killing the guy with knife copied from Saving Private Ryan, and it goes on and on and on.......Direction : 2.5 out of 10 Acting : 4 out of 10 Overall : 1.5 out of 10Such a good and exciting topic was ruined by amateur director boasting only of star cast, nothing else, RGV would have done umpteen times better than this blindfolded !!!! watch company, Shiva and satya to learn whats Gangsta filmaking instead!!!
