Ceticultsot Beautiful, moving film.
Odelecol Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.
PiraBit if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.
Guillelmina The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
vishnu-dileep08 Summary (no spoilers)The events in this movie happen after the first one named Sarkar. This movie introduces Anita Rajan, CEO of a big power plant company; she brings a power plant proposal to build in Maharashtra at first she is sent off by Sarkar later knowing the good benefits of this project to the people Shankar convinces Sarkar to help them built it. So soon as usual some are going to be against it and the movie unfolds. My Review (no spoilers)The plot of this movie was better than the first one. It was the perfect blend of action, crime and drama. I just enjoyed the music "Govinda" which keeps ringing in the background. Everyone did a wonderful job of acting in this movie except for Sayaji Shinde he does overacting I think he should stick to telugu movies as his overacting works out there. Amitabh ji and Ash did a really awesome job. The twists and turns towards the end of the movie were good and unpredictable. My RecommendationYes I liked this movie am sure you would too.My Rating9/10
enriques_says I saw the movie in the theater the day it was released. I had great expectation as sarkar was a massive hit in box office. I very disappointed in the first half of the movie. First half of movie is nail growing slow AMITABH BACHCHAN the man of few words in SANKAR was wasted in the movie with too much of dialogs and doing nothing. ABHISHEK had a lead but was not able to direct this power in his words. The direction was not up to the mark, same old still camera and dark background as all ram gopal verma movie has. Overall its just one time watchable movie with poor finish at the end. cheers....
railrulez Yes, I know that this movie was not based on the Godfather (how I wish it were). But clearly, there were bits and pieces (as well as the overall story) that showed the link.My main gripe with this movie is this: when Ram Gopal Varma adapted it, he forgot to also take a hint and keep the movie subtle. I've not watched Hindi movies for a while (which I think gives me perspective), and I thought this movie was worse than the blockbuster superhero-type crap that Hollywood makes (spiderman, iron man, etc.).First off, does every dialogue have to have some music to emphasize it? I can understand Hindi just fine, thank you. I do not need some loud eerie music after every sentence the Sarkar utters. This is almost like writing a 1000 page essay where every word was in caps, bold, or underlined.Second, they just *have* to make each villain have his "own" trait. Vora with his nonsensical humming, the other dude with his stupid metaphors, the killer with his permanently-on gloves (in 30 degree weather, I bet). Perhaps they hope to start a new meme (in real life). In any case, I found it childish.***spoilers in the following two paras***Third, Bachchan's long-winded explanations near the end: where did they get all that? Out of Ram Gopal Varma's ass? There was *nothing* in the movie to indicate that the plot could involve some of Sarkar's friends (except the car explosion, but we already knew that the Kanga guy was bad). Presumably Vora confessed when he was being questioned, but then do we need Sarkar explaining everything to Aish with the smirk of a genius who has figured everything out? Absolutely appalling.Fourth, what's with Aish taking over the empire? She was the business partner who had a crush (just a crush) on Shankar, and when he's shot, she cries like he was her lord and master. And what's that with the corny last dialogue? Suddenly she transforms from a whiny girl to a cold mafia boss? Ram Gopal Varma seems to have missed the fact that the best parts of the Godfather movies were the transitions themselves, like Michael from being just the youngest kid to being the Don. These are the things that should be shown, not cast away with lame one-liners.***end spoilers*** Perhaps Ram Gopal Varma believes this is what the Indian public likes. I guess there's plenty of evidence to support this, considering this movie is "better" than a majority of Bollywood movies. But this movie should not be judged comparison to those (e.g., because it has no songs and such). In the end, it's just like the rest of them: a bunch of crap that's spoonfed Bachchan style. I pity the state of Bollywood cinema.5 stars out of 10 is generous.
Neel D The power game continues. The first part 'Sarkar' may have been inspired from the movie 'Godfather', but the second part is much more impressive than 'Godfather 2'. It theoretically depicts the mind games that take place when power needs to be taken in hands. This movie combines the 2 most powerful aspects that attract movie goers to theaters....first being power and second being suspense. ...People who say that the story of Sarkar Raj isn't strong enough have not understood the first part either. It is all Politics. Lives are taken in the name of power , not in the name of money. Money is just the goal , not the path. The movie portrays an aging politician (for say) and his anxiety with his son to take over power from him . There are a few characters who have single handedly caught the audience by their breath....kudos to Rajesh Shringarpore , who plays the role of Somji....where has this actor been all this while ? ....A beautiful sketch of an opposing politician and the fire in his blood to take over the reigns of Maharashtra. Dilip Prabhavalkar shows his soft style but impacting acting as he does in every film. The Sepia touch to the movie really keeps you intact in your seat and your eyes searching for answers. The Background score is more powerful than the first part and rightly so . There are a few flaws in the movie too , may be the Aag effect hasn't totally worn off Ram Gopal Verma. The most obvious flaw of over portraying a character is the serial murderer who wears a rubber glove , and that too it has been shown that he disguises himself as a reporter in the press conference but still wears the glove and holds the pen....Somji's habit of drinking water (The director hasn't shown him ever going to the Toilet).Despite being a billionaire NRI Aishwarya Rai doesn't show a slight Accent....(Come On !) to earn those billions of dollars one might have stayed at least 5 years , and eventually developed that accent. To top it off she speaks more fluent Hindi than Kantilal 'V'ohra.
