Baseshment I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.
BelSports This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
Rosie Searle It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
mpower-85907 Takes you on a man's journey of what consquences lead up to when you chose to take the law into your own hands for family. Jason shines and shows promise.
kimberlymbozman This film was advertised as an intense dark thriller. But it isn't. It is so much more! The film succeeds as a sensitive and haunting true story of the human toll which a tragic flaw in our justice system is creating. We are failing to provide justice for Native American women who are abused and raped. How are they and their men forced to deal with this crass, criminal, disgusting holocaust? This story is about one man's choice.Jason Mamoa is very impressive in his role as actor, co-writer, director and producer. As lead actor, the quality of his performance in this film is of the highest caliber. He produces a fully formed human being, portrayed with a calm sensitivity that is VERY RARE. Jason gives a performance that feels real in every detail. You never catch him acting. I do wish that minutes 43-45 were deleted. Two minutes of gratuitous sex instead of the sexual intimacy that a pair of actors couldn't be more prepared to portray honestly than Lisa Bonet and Jason Mamoa. Sex is the most intense form of communication and expanding minute 47 would have given us the chance to know this most intimate facet of the character in an unforgettable way. Why didn't they go there? The story and supporting cast are fantastic with one exception. The actor playing the Federal agent descends to a caricature of the evil cop and it detracts from the film. Ignore him completely especially at the final scene. The end of the film is astonishing. It is a profound achievement the way that this scene reveals the ABSOLUTE DEPTH of the characters core belief system. From prayer to the fight for his life in just a few minutes.
leerufong cuz its a journey worth coming along for. jason at the helm as director and WOW you nailed it. this film was just what i was looking for one afternoon. may you offer us more glances into stories, characters and songs to share with us.the road is leading to Peace. will it be a happy ending? will we glimpse some Truth lit by smoke along the way? i encourage you the reader and potential participant to find out.some said the viewpoint of Robert Wolf is one-sided. Who cares? It's his story and this film delivers..thx jason, lisa and all involved with this project. i've watched it with my family of four including a 2yr old and a 4yr old, an' we'll watch it many more times i'm sure.cheers, lee
colonel52 First @ Jason Momoa: Your directing and film making is pretty good for a first movie and low budget. Your writing however is pretty bad. Next time try directing something that someone else wrote that is good material, and has all the elements needed and no tragic endings! This is a well made movie , you would never guess it was made on $600,000 budget, ( I read that somewhere) so I give the movie a good score for that. It is realistic movie which is part of the reason it is boring. but some things are outlandish. The story is pretty bad, and not a happy one. Some elements are just hard to believe, like wolf's mom lives on a reservation, and her husband is a Indian cop, yet somehow she is brutally killed by a white guy who I don't know was just wandering around the reservation? then her husband catches him but he doesn't kill him even though it would be quite easy out in the desert , no he arrests him! Then the guy is handed over to the feds who after a year decide killing a Indian woman is no big deal so they just let him go !!! And those words were used in the film. lol Now you don't get to see any of this it is just talked about, but later in the movie another evil white guy has a young Indian girl out in desert, and he is raping and torturing her , so I guess the reservations are where all evil white guys go to rape women?? It just seems too silly and bizarre to believe. (and there seemed to be no reason for this scene, like it was a after thought or maybe they wanted to make sure we know this is happening a lot. So wolf kills the guy in such a manner that there is no doubt he killed the guy ?? I mean he could have knocked him out and take him into the desert and killed him and no one would ever know he did it. But then you couldn't have this tragic ending. So this movie is about after wolf kills the guy and the FBI has one guy after him that wants to catch him and another FBI guy who doesn't. Wolf winds up teaming up with another loser who has a bike to and it is easy rider for awhile , but then gets dark again with the ending.I like Momoa as a actor , so this was sort of OK to watch, also I wanted to see if he could write or direct, and he can direct, but needs to work big time on his writing skills.
