TrueHello Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
Mandeep Tyson The acting in this movie is really good.
callanvass (Credit to Parca Mortem on IMDb) After a group of teenagers indirectly cause an old witch to be burned, they accidentally revive Pumpkinhead. This time Pumpkinhead is inhabited by the soul of a deformed orphan killed 30 years before. He goes on a bloody rampage after his tormentors and the teenagers. Meanwhile, a local sheriff tries to solve the mystery and stop the murders.I know Pumpkinhead has a lot of fans, but I'm not one of them. I wasn't looking forward to this sequel. With how awful this sequel is, I'll watch the original over this one any day of the week. Not only is it very stupid, but rather dull as well. There were too many random killings as well. We get severed limbs, blood splashes, and more. The monster is really rubbery looking. He wasn't very threatening at all. Amazingly enough, we get a great horror cast. The performances are OK, but almost everyone is unlikable. Ami Dolenz is cute and makes a decent female lead. J. Trevor Edmond annoyed me. It's always fun to see Andrew Robinson in a role, but I disliked his character. I can't forget about the gorgeous, Soleil Moon Frye either. If you're gonna watch any of the Pumpkinhead movies, stick with the original. This is followed by two crappy straight to video sequels. 3.4/10
bowmanblue In B-movie terms, the original 'Pumpkinhead' movie was a classic. It had decent actors, a solid premise and, most importantly for a monster movie, a pretty damn hideous beast, slashing and ripping its way through the cast. With its reasonable success, it was no surprise that it spawned a sequel. And I really wish it hadn't.Okay, so 'Pumpkinhead 2: Blood Wings' is every bit the B-movie that its predecessor was. However, one fact remains – the acting is awful this time around. Yes, no one really expects Oscar-worthy performances with films that primarily go straight to DVD. However, in this case the acting can't go unmentioned. Yes, there are a few decent actors who try their hardest to make the best out of the awful lines given to them, but, on the whole, the acting is noticeably substandard, even by B-movie terms. Although, I may be being unfair on the cast. The script is clunky and lame, so, I'm guessing even a cast that comprised of Robert DeNiro and Ian McKellen would struggle to breathe life into what was given to them.Onto the story – it's basically a re-run of the first. Someone dies when they shouldn't. The monster, known affectionately as 'Pumpkinhead' stalks his way through those who have committed the wrong. And you won't really care who he kills. Because pretty much every person who finds themselves on the wrong end of PH's claws probably deserves to have their bowels ripped out anyway. At least the monster himself isn't too bad (and, despite being only a man in a rubber suit, acts better than some of his human co-stars). He's pretty nasty, but somehow still not as scary as the first film portrayed him to be.Basically, you should just stick to Pumpkinhead (1). It contains everything that will ever be good about the franchise. Although, no matter how bad part II may be, it's still about a million times better of any of the further sequels (just don't get me started on those!).http://thewrongtreemoviereviews.blogspot.co.uk/
utgard14 Mean-spirited and ugly direct-to-video sequel to a great '80s horror film. Starts off with a flashback to some kids taunting a boy with some kind of disfiguring disease. The taunting turns to murder. This is an especially bleak way to start the film. Back in the present day, Sheriff Braddock (Andrew Robinson) moves his family from New York to the small Southern town where he grew up. His daughter (Ami Dolenz) starts hanging out with the wrong crowd. The wrong crowd in this case looks like three Saved By the Bell rejects and a kid dressed up like Judd Nelson in The Breakfast Club.Wrong crowd kids run down the mother of flashback victim. They take her home, where they discover she is preparing to do the ritual to resurrect her son. Why she waited decades to do this is never explained. Then, the leader of the wrong crowd kids (J. Trevor Edmonds) steals a vial of blood and the spell from her house. He and his friends then go do the spell and raise Pumpkinhead. Why they do this makes no sense. Just being morons I guess. From here, you can pretty much guess what happens. Pumpkinhead starts killing people off right and left. A couple of these scenes are fairly amusing. Obviously an inferior sequel in every regard. The performances of the cast range from bad to bored. Roger Clinton was obviously cast for publicity purposes. I refuse to call what he does here acting. He speaks his lines, let's put it that way. Special effects are cheap and don't compare to Stan Winston's first film. Makeup effects for the old lady are far less impressive and Pumpkinhead design is unimaginative. Suspense and atmosphere is non-existent. Directed by Jeff Burr. He's just a terrible director who has made some really awful films his entire career. I guess he knew the right people because talent did not keep getting him work. It's a crap sequel, to be sure, but sadly better than the mess that would follow in the 2000s.
Mr_Censored "Pumpkinhead II: Blood Wings" is the direct-to-video follow-up to Stan Winston's semi-classic horror opus. Stuffed with familiar faces from the genre (Andrew Robinson, Linnea Quigley), the film tells the tale of a group of wanna-be rebel teenagers whose penchant for raising Hell comes back to bite them in the butt when they unwittingly unleash the Pumpkinhead demon, who sets out to wreak havoc on the small town with country music and strobe lights in tow.Solid direction from Jeff Burr ("Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III") and some decent effects from the KNB crew are much appreciated but can't save this flaccid sequel. The story itself is beyond bland and is essentially a retread of the original, minus the tragedy. Add to that a glut of cardboard characters whose intentions are never clear and a tone that is never quite established, and you have a cheap and forgettable affair that does little to live up to its predecessor. Some cheap thrills await fans of the original who, if they lower their expectations and simply want to see the titular character do his thing, may find this a decent watch, but for the rest, it's best left dead and buried.
