Thomas Finley has been arrested for the murder of his nineteen-year old sister, Samantha and fifty-two year old, Edgar Lauren, a Professor and paranormal investigator. Police were called to the scene by Thomas himself in the early hours of the morning, finding him inside with his sister's body cradled in his arms. In his statement given in police custody, Thomas claimed that the victims were attacked by a demonic entity of unknown origin. Days later, he committed suicide. It is the opinion of those closely related to the family that a video found at the scene be shown to the public as a final testament to what actually happened inside the Finley home in those final days.

StyleSk8r At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
Lidia Draper Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.
Derrick Gibbons An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
Ginger Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.
dominusluna2-704-461065 I saw Paranormal Activity some time ago and it seemed very long (and when I saw it, I must say kind of boring)very little was happening. In this movie, it doesn't take long to get moving and for strange things to start to happen. It's quite a tragic story as it explains in the opening statements. I don't see how Samantha's brother could have been charged with her rape and murder considering there were cameras in three different rooms showing bizarre things happening like her blanket being pulled down when no one was in the room. The same with things moving.I guess it's hard to blame a crime on a ghost. Who knows if the footage he took would have even helped him. All in all I really liked this movie.Maybe I need to give paranormal Activity another try to see if it as boring as I remember.
Michael O'Keefe You may say this is a Shane Van Dyke project; not only does he star, he is credited with the screenplay and also directs. Supposedly based on real paranormal activity that took the life of a pretty young woman named Samantha Finley(Erin Marie Hogan). This supernatural horror film opens with a disclaimer that Thomas Finley(Van Dyke)was convicted of raping and killing his sister and murdering her doctor, Edgar Lauren(Norman Saleet), who also claimed to be a psychic. Ellen Finley(Fia Perera)feels something strange has entered her home shortly after the death of her husband. Dr. Lauren convinces her that she probably has reached her loved one from the "other side". But it seems most of the abnormal activity in the home is happening in her daughter Sam's room. Son and brother Thomas has installed night vision cameras in the home in hopes of catching paranormal footage. This is what we see...the allegedly "actual footage" of the events that led to the murder of Miss Finley. Thomas committed suicide while in prison. Obviously low budget and just not enough of the "good stuff" the viewer hopes to see.
Horror Banana-nanza For being a direct to DVD rip off of a more popular, more polished film, this movie has quite the following. And for good reason. All the things that the "Paranormal Activity" films have failed to grasp, this movie grabs onto firmly. We have a family, the Finley's, being attacked, or at first just bothered, by an unseen spirit. What does this spirit want? They aren't sure. At first they think it's their deceased father and husband trying to communicate. But then it does, well, unmentionable things to the daughter Samantha, and the family becomes more confounded.Through a series of clips filmed with home cameras, the demon knocks crosses off of walls, turns on appliances, and basically straight up tortures the hell out of Samantha. At one point, it walks on the ceiling, leaving footprints in its wake.My favorite thing about this movie is that it acknowledges that this entity can act without a camera pointed at it, as it follows Samantha and her mom to a hotel, and we only hear about the demon's actions. We don't' see them, and while some people want visual stimulation, I'll trade that for a story that scares me.And this one does. To the max. While the ending may be a bit too much for my tastes, and the very odd voyeuristic actions of the brother Thomas seem out of place, this movie has far more of a dreadful feeling than any of the Paranormal Activity sequels to date, although it still pales in comparison to the original. I'd take this one as a nice little companion piece to Paranormal Activity. Watching them back to back will leave you unsettled, especially with the excessively dark ending of this one. _________For all of the Horror Banana reviews, visit http://morozov924.hubpages.com/
TheLittleSongbird As far as Asylum movies go, Paranormal Entity is not as bad as Titanic II, Alien Origin or AVH: Alien vs Hunter. It did have a decent concept and started off decently. Sadly it very quickly goes downhill. The effects and editing are haphazard to look at so you can't really enjoy anything visually. The writing is awful also, it reeks of cheese and never feels as though it is natural in its flow. The characters are not identifiable at all, you know little about the family and the chemistry isn't there between them. Plus everything feels so clichéd. The acting is very poor as well, Shane Van Dyke overacts embarrassingly while the rest of the cast are insufferably bland(especially in comparison). But the worst asset about Paranormal Entity was the story, once it falls downhill from its somewhat promising start it is all very predictable and the scares and such have the feeling of being improvised and badly. All in all, not their worst, but a very bad movie still. 2/10 Bethany Cox
