I love this movie so much

The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.

Tells a fascinating and unsettling true story, and does so well, without pretending to have all the answers.

By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.

Good movie, romantic... until the dumbest ending any movie could ever have!!! Just wasted almost 2 hours of my life I"ll never get back!

I found the movie, drawn out and boring. Even though Jane Fonda's character lived on the same street as Robert Redford's character for 45 years they really hadn't much in common with the exception of being a widow and a widower , so when Jane arrives at Redford's door late one night and asks to talk to him, he is even surprised and seems a little more than awkward when she suggests that he share her bed at night (sleep only) as it is so lonely being on their own .
Maybe both Fonda and Redford thought this would be their "On Golden Pond" moment, I really don't know , but for me it was tedious to get through. Some may find it endearing or even romantic, it was just flat without the fizz. I'm not a great fan of Fonda and seeing her face stretched to capacity from plastic surgery didn't help the experience.

This movie just seemed to have no point. We're introduced to all these side characters and learn a little about their backstory, but at the end it doesn't resolve anything. Jane Fonda just moves away. We never find out what happened to the daughter who went to Europe. The relationship between Fonda's character and her son is never fixed. This movie was just a waste of time

Spoiler alert: mentions relationships essential to the theme. If only it could be as easy as walking next door with a paper sack of fresh underwear and a t-shirt and crawling into the bed of an equally lonely neighbor...if only. While in real life we have Tinder and Hot or Not and whatever else is out there now, in this movie we have the person in the house down the street whose solitary existence matches our own and calls out for comradeship and cuddling.Wipe away the probability that this beginning is a little unbelievable, and you'll be on board with the rest of the movie. Redford and Fonda glow on the screen, quietly and faithfully, with a pace that wears down the carpet, warms the heart and eventually works just fine.It feels good to think of the possibilities, of finding another soul with whom we can connect even as we move ourselves toward the end of the light we have left. The candle flickers and we wait for ourselves to breathe, even as we imagine the light going out.
