Topper thinks summer vacation is boring. He misses his father who is sailing the seven seas. He can't figure out Sille who's cute. And his best friend, Viggo, always has to help out his punctilious dad, Mr Lion, in the café on the first floor of the red house where Topper lives on the top floor with his mother. One day, Topper finds a magic pencil and when he draws a rhino on the wall, the drawing comes to life! While Topper and Viggo try to keep the rhino, which they name Otto, well fed with black bread and raspberry soda before it devours all the furniture, Mr Lion pleads with the local authorities to come and remove the stomping pachyderm.

ReaderKenka Let's be realistic.
Chirphymium It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional
InformationRap This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.
Keeley Coleman The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;
Jesse Boland Sweet little Danish animated movie that has that whole Hervé Darmenton Achdar look with the pencil noses, and big eyes. Not to much lost in the translation of this one, nice little movie that starts out looking like it is heading toward Simon in the Land of Chalk Drawings, territory, and then becomes more focused on the Rhino himself. What little girl wouldn't want a Rhinoceros for her birthday? The animation is on par with the LEGO videos, they have very fluid water, and the lighting effects are actually good enough to help shape the story. The songs are a bit week, and are most likely much better in Danish. I Enjoyed watching this once, but if you are a parent that has to put stuff on repeat, this one might get under your skin. I do recommend it for the little ones, only. There is not enough there to keep most adults entertained, the whole movie feels more like a child's fantasy of how the first days of summer should be.
