ManiakJiggy This is How Movies Should Be Made
Lovesusti The Worst Film Ever
Humbersi The first must-see film of the year.
Aneesa Wardle The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
Leofwine_draca Ostensibly a remake of Roger Corman's '50s-era B-movie, this is a Z-grade effort very much in the '80s "boobs and bimbos" tradition. There are more big-haired bimbos here than you can shake a stick at, and most if not all of them strip to the waist during some point in the film. Director Jim Wynorski clearly has no desire to make a high-end movie, so he just goes for lowbrow entertainment throughout. The story is simple. An alien – in human form of course, this is a no budget movie – arrives on Earth and needs a supply of human blood to stay alive. Cue the entrance of ex-porn star Traci Lords as a hot, often naked nurse to look after him. Various nubile women are killed off-screen for their blood, and the alien guy sometimes chats to other human-looking aliens on STAR TREK-style teleporters. Then the film ends. There isn't much on offer here – unless you have a penchant for surgically-enhanced female bodies. The special effects are cheesy beyond belief and the cast members uniformly suck – although Lenny Juliano's disgustingly lecherous chauffeur did get a chuckle or two out of me, I have to admit. The best thing about this is the opening credit sequence, which is chock-full of gory clips from other, better Corman directed or produced movies like HUMANOIDS FROM THE DEEP.
Aaron1375 This film is brought to us by Roger Corman, the master of the cheesy horror film. The movies he helps produce are generally full of blood and gore, monsters and some nudity. So while the films he makes are not high brow, they are also usually not boring. This one though has stretches where it is boring. Not seeing Traci Lords though, she is hot to the extreme! I kind of find it funny that the adult film industry ever let her do adult films as she looks around 18 here and she is 20. I doubt she looked more mature at 16! The film had an interesting plot, an interesting villain and a nice looking female to look at. It had very uninteresting kills which was its downfall in my mind. The story has a mysterious man using his flashing eyes to kill people and draining their blood. He is from another planet that is dying and has its sights on the earth's blood to try and prolong its existence. He employs a nurse to help him with blood transfers, but his strange behavior soon makes her suspicious and she begins to try and figure out this man's motives. The story had some things going for it, but I would have preferred a more bloody film. This film is kind of a drag at times as it moves slowly, especially at the end. There is nudity aplenty, but not near the end. About the only thing you get in the end is a unsatisfying ending and a stupid question mark at the end of "the end". The film does feature some really gruesome kills and graphic nudity, but most of it is in the credits during the beginning of the film as it flashes you scenes from Roger Corman's other films that were a lot more interesting and fun than this one. Not all bad, but it could have been more fun with gore and more nudity. Traci though is very nice to look at and she makes the movie more tolerable to watch.
Scarecrow-88 Alien(Arthur Roberts), from a nuclear devastated planet, needs blood not only to keep himself strong, but for his people from home as war ravishes there. He brings in nurse Nadine(Traci Lords) to apply transfusions often so that his strength will remain. His eyes glow so he has to keep a pair of shades on unless retrieving the life force of victims..he also uses mind control over the inferior humans who are weak against his power. He has a blonde servant, known for his criminal activities, named Jeremy(Lenny Juliano). Nadine's boss, Dr. Rochelle(Ace Mask)is a mind control victim of the alien's and does as he wishes. If anyone even mentions his name as a possible suspect in the rash of crimes taking place, where corpses are being drained of blood, Rochelle will not implicate him. Various bimbos become victims as Nadine, her cop boyfriend Harry(Roger Lodge), & Jeremy begin to suspect their wealthy employer, Mr. Johnson being his disguised earth name, may be..Not of This Earth.Johnson keeps a gateway housed in his study which works as both a portal between worlds and a telecommunications device to his leader. Soon Johnson discovers that he'll possibly not be able to return home when a female alien passes through the portal to earth informing him that a bimbo he sent was crushed during the travel. Needing blood, the female alien is accidentally given blood, through a transfusion conducted by Johnson, infected with rabies that sends her into a violent frenzy wiping out a group of punks and hunting/executing an innocent woman. The discovery of the female(..coupled with Nadine and Jeremy's snooping) could lead to the revealing of Johnson's true identity. To be honest, my true recommendation towards others is seeing Traci Lords in various states of undress or wearing dresses and/or skimpy, scantily-clad clothing that reveals her magnificent body. She's undeniably a sexy woman who does a capable job in the starring role opposite the stone-faced Roberts as an emotion-less alien killing machine, while Juliano as the slimy Jeremy, with a thing for Nadine(..who could fault him for that?)is a hoot. The special effects sequences at the front are really not needed and rather detract from the rest of the film which has nothing to do with those images of various alien monsters terrorizing. There are a number of spirited weirdos who often frequent director Wynorski's trashy pictures. But, Lords is the film's highlight, ESPECIALLY in that blue bikini. As Lodge's cop Harry pronounces as she walks away from him.."Phew, have mercy." Have mercy is right!
ryan13003 Not of this Earth is actually a really good b-movie. Im not a movie critic, so i dont know what actually constitutes a good movie by their standards but I do enjoy watching movies and telling about them. This movie is guaranteed to keep you entertained. the acting is really quite good, as well as, Traci Lords is super hott and has a great body. I think i like her better in actual movies. plus Lenny Juliano plays a good part in this flick. In my opinion he is a great character actor, he brings just enough comedy to every movie to keep you paying attention to him. I believe this is one of Jim Wynorski's best movies. but this is definetely not a movie for children. Its not scary or gruesome but there is a good bit of nudity and sex scenes. I rate this movie at least a 7 out of 10.
